Which smell and sound is your absolute favorite.

I'm not talking about the sound and smell that once it hits you you totally realize "yes! I'm back at Disney!"

flr me it's the smell of teh Poly's lobby, and the sound of the boats' horn taking people from the hotel to MK

For me, its the Mesquite smell in Spaceship Earth and the sound of people screaming on Tower of Terror that you can hear halfway up Sunset Blvd. :sohappy:

Funny, but my answers are similar to the last two posts.

I start to feel "really there" at the first sniff of the AKL lobby, the branching corridors that lead to the guest rooms, the guest room itself, and last but not least, the smell of musty wood that can be smelled from the balcony of the guest room.

As for sounds, the distinctive sound of the valet at AKL reminds me that I am "really there". There are also the sounds of busses in the distance, birds from the balcony, and the whoosh of air as you enter The Mara.

But above everything else, the FEELING I get when I enter the Magic Kingdom, a feeling filled with both smell and sounds, and memories, a feeling that brings tears to my eyes, makes me feel "really there" more than anything.

I also have to agree. I love those funky smells on Spaceship Earth.

Latley, its been our habit to get to Orlando mid afternoon. And I like to save the "first official morning" for the MK, so we head to Epcot that first day, and Spaceship Earth first. I love sitting in there, smelling those smells, thinking, "I was in Chicago this morning, and now I'm on SSE".

The sound that lets me know I've arrived has to be the background noise in Tommorrow Land: The TTA anouncements, the Space Mountain bg music. I love it.

For me its the WL. Walking in just makes me feel right at home. The oasis at AK is also a good one. Just smells so clean and earthy, cept if its hot and you smell animal......well....crap to be nice :D . Oh yes and everyone knows they LOVE the lovely smell of the monorail on a nice hot sticky day :animwink: :hurl:

I have two favorite smells. Just walking around Main Street early in the morning and smelling the combination of popcorn and the bakeries. Can't put it into words really, but that really does it. The other smell I adore is definatly around Canada. Once again, I can't really describe it, but it must be the cologne and beaver tail combination. I have posted earlier that WS smells better than any other area of WDW. The worst smell has to be Toon Town. Just smells like exhaust from Indy and one large diaper.

The smell of the Polynesian Lobby and the turkey/alien legs!

Sounds would have to be the WDW Railroad, and of course the music they play around the hotel.

First off - wrong board. This isn't a tidbit of Disney news or rumor, next time ya might wanna post this on the general discussion board.

Back on topic ... :hammer: ... of course, my absolute favorite is the unreproducable spell of burning Rome in Spaceship Earth. I actually also want to mention one no one else has posted ... the smell of waterfalls/water in Pirates. Particularly in the island/skeleton captain scene just before the waterfall "there be rough waters ahead."

Other memorable smells are El Rio del Tempio (I know I spelled that wrong), the Monorails, the Disney hotel rooms, and any ride which uses pistons usually has a distinct smell/sound to it.

The smell used to be Oranges on Horizons. Now it would probably be the cave smell in Pirates.

The Sounds again used to be the Tomorrow's Child instrumental but would now be "Please stand clear of the doors," the SpectroMagic theme, or Illuminations' intro.

Good, I'm glad I'm not the only one who notices that smell! That's the only smell that I actually find sometimes around my home town - usually around fountains.

Fav sounds and smells of WDW:

* The water in the indoor/water attractions
* The quiet sound of music throughout the parks
* The monorail announcements
* Rome burning smell in SSE
* All the smells of the great food in the WS
* That clean hotel room smell

And, not really a smell or sound per say, but the feeling when you walk into a park right when it opens and it's still a little chilly in the early morning, the sun's just come up, the park is all clean and things are just starting to get going and you've got the whole day in front of you.

Crap, I just made myself really depressed that i'm actually not there right now. :(

The train bell as you enter MK. The smell of the bakery on Main Street, the candy store as you pass by and popcorn. MK is always the first park we go to when we arrive.
