I am not sure how cheap it is to run. The sky rocketing cost of Gas and the amount of pollution this ride generates have to be something for those in Disney who are starting to think green.

The cars in Hong Kong are electric, so they could switch over, but the fuel costs and pollution from the Bus system is a lot higher than the go-karts, relatively speaking it's not that big a deal to keep the go-kart track up and running
