So what exactly is wrong with WDW?

The apparent mainance issues of WDW has seemingly been a hot topic within the last few years, dispersed over many diferent threads. As a relative outsider, I am unfamiliar with the specifics of the issue. I know there are certain effects that have been unoperational for extended periods, and general building maintainance that has gone unattended to. I'm curious what the specific issues are and how long they have gone unfixed. I am also curious of the specifics surrounding why these things have gone unfixed.

I realize this may be a dangerous topic to isolate in this way, but I am hoping both sides can be mature and we can maintain an actual discussion without insults. Bullying on either side will be untolerated.

If you beleive people are over reacting to the maintainance concerns, feel free to express that in a civil manner with evidence and/or observations.

My purpose here is to facilitate intelligent discussion and learn more about the topic I have heard mostly in passing.

Looks like this thread is already a success ;)

Mind you this is not a back handed compliment or insult, I recognize and appreciate your restraint.

But I am curious what legitimate arguements you may have to add to the discussion.

This topic is the forum's dead horse that gets beat upon every week or so. Its still going on in the "problem at MK" thread, this one will, more than likely get locked before you know it.

I have already made my feelings known, just about everyone knows them, to further administer these feelings would in fact make me appear to be "whining".

This topic is stale, just do a search, everyone has said their peace, lets not rehash, lets move forward.

As much as I may hate to admit it, I actually agree with Jimmy here. There's been two of these threads in just the past few days, with one being shut down, and the other ongoing. No real need for another, regardless of how civil and respectful it may be presented....

This topic is "stale"? It has appeared in active forums with very heated discussions. That's like saying that government spending is a stale topic while it is still relevant to those who think the government spends to much despite how long it has been discussed. Is the reason you think it is stale because you don't beleive there is a problem?

Do you think the problem at MK thread really summarizes the issue? I don't. I say the specific day in question talked about and random facts brouhgt up with more generalizations than specific facts. I would like a comprhensive list of the points in question for better analysis.

And you are within your rights not to be a part of this thread if there is nothing else to be said. And if others are of the same mind set, it will dissapear soon anyway and be of no consequence.

So why get everyone fired up all over again over the same arguments, counter-arguments, insults and aggravations that have already been covered before?

Just do a search, everything you want to know is already out there, and then some.

People will complain about a different thing on a different day, but if you look closely, they are all, and within their right, complaining about the same things.

Its becoming a chore to say the same things over and over again, lets try something else.

Jimmy Thick-We are better than that.

Wow. I thought I heard a gunshot and something whizzed past my head. Then I looked up and saw your thread. This is kind of like a game of "Smack the Bull" ain't it?

If history continues to repeat itself, this topic in general will not go away. It will continue to sprout up in various different threads. If there is one active thread about the topic where objective observations and evidence are defined from the get go and organized in when location in an intelligent way, then maybe it will satisfy those who still want to talk about it and keep it somewhat contained.

But if people don't want this thread, it will go away and that is fine.

The opinion of people about what can be done to improve the Disney parks will never go away, I agree. That's the nature of a discussion forum. But starting a thread entitled "So what exactly is wrong with WDW?" is just throwing gasoline on the fire, something that you were aware of from the onset....

I wasn't trying to do that. It came from an innocent and inquisitive place. I hear about maintainance all of the time, but I am unfamiliar with a lot of the specifics. My fault because I am not on here as much as many others.

I'm curious about things like issues fixed versus unfixed, the scope of issues brought up (ie are we really getting as nit picky as strands of carpet and scuffed paint or are they legitimate issues, funding allocated now versus then adjusted for inflation, time it takes for certain things to be addressed, why other Disney parks appear better maintained (ie management, funding etc). Like i said, I hear lots of general things and not a lot of more specific things.

And it seems like Disney is always working on something, but there are claims of cut backs.

I think that's an very extreme accusation. I highly doubt the OP intentionally wanted to fan the flames, as it were. I think Crazy Harry's original intentions were to create a concise, organized list of grievances that the members of this website have against the Disney Company. Do I think that the topic in general is overdone at this point? Of course. But do I think that threatening to shut down the discussion is fair? Definitely not. Just let the conversation live or die on its own. No need to condemn it prematurely.

Those "heated discussions" have been prevalent here, and I have little doubt the OP was aware of that fact when he started a thread entitled "So what exactly is wrong with WDW?". Regardless of how it was presented, this thread will simply devolve to the usual diatribes, accusations and polarizing of arguments over the state of the parks. As has happened so many times before.
