So uh.. What Now For Disneyland Resort?

Can't they just enclose it and turn it into Crush's Coaster?

It would be "Crush's Coaster: The Bad One."

Your new here. I would suggest washing the pixie dust out of your eyes and see how Walt's park has deteriorated over the last twenty years. It saddens me to see what has happen. Dollywood's theming is very good considering the resources they have to work with. It's a beautiful park. It has charm and isn't packed to the gills. Just like Knotts, it's a pleasant place to spend time.

Sometimes other places just do it better.

You're, and I'm not actually.
Perhaps then, instead of complaining about everything Disney does, you find a Dollywood or Knott's forum, since that's more your speed? That way you can at least enjoy the things you spend your time typing about.

Honestly, as it stands today.. yes. If you asked me in early 2016.. no.

So Pixar Pier is so bad that it retroactively ruined Paradise Pier?

Yeah, but then we’d have TMP (Too Much Pixar). Stitch always came to mind as a retheme subject for some reason. I wouldn’t mind if we tore the whole thing down and added something new at this point, though.

I understand, but at the same time this is a bit of hyperbole. There have been occasional upturns here and there, like the early Iger years, DCA 2.0, Pandora, exterminating the worst excesses of early DCA, Captain EO coming back... don’t be such a gnasher! And I agree that natural theming can be refreshing.

Disney has had it's ups and downs in the last few decades, but since Chappy took over it's been nothing but downs.
Yes, but not all of them are his fault. The deaths of Russi Taylor, Peter Mayhew, and Stan Lee, the outing scandal of Lasseter, etc. not to mention the Pixar Pier reskin and whatnot, which were Chapek’s fault.

Paradise Pier honestly just was so much prettier.

And not to make this MB argument, but yeah, Tower of Terror was also just so much prettier in the skyline than MB. I do miss both of these.

I notice that a lot of people are indecisive on whether to restore DCA to 2.0 or just smash it. I’d say... “yes”. Restore some parts to be more like 2.0, while some things like GSS need to be smashed to make room for something new.

Sometimes a rat needs be called a rat. Sometimes other places just do it better.

But, it's good to see you participating after four years of lurking.

I am surprised that anyone would ask for Disney to stop construction in the parks for awhile...we went for years where everyone was complaining that nothing new was coming and while folks may not like some of what has been produced, the spend at DLR has been non-stop since 2012 with the redo of BV street and addition of Cars Land.

Sorry I haven't had the time to spew pointless vitriol onto the interwebs about things I claim to love just for strangers to roll their eyes at.
A lot can be said for just not saying anything sometimes.

It's very bad. IMO, it's taken Paradise Pier even more backward, if that was possible. At least Paradise Pier made sense. Chase a Baby and Emotional Whirlwind and the "Fried Chicken Stall 1" are so cheap, i'd be surprised if Disney spent all of 1 days worth of profit to IP the Pier. Is this what i'm spending 150+ a day for?

Oh man way to bring back my depression.

All jokes aside, ToT and Paradise Pier, alongside the Grizzly Peak area, were the best parts of DCA. Now it's an IP dumpster fire. Just replacing Bugs Land with a Marvel Land could've been more than acceptable.

Hmmm... Pixar Pier vs a parking lot. Well let's see, my 3 kids sure do love Pixar Pier! The wife and I enjoy it as well and have a lot of fun with them. Isn't that what Walt wanted? While parking lots can be fun, I much prefer the former! 😂

When you've loved something like Disneyland all your life, and you see bad decisions being made regarding its fate, it's good to speak out about it--politely, and sometimes with humor. It's not pointless. But, again, just because we don't like something current-Disney has created or done doesn't mean we don't still enjoy what's great about Walt Disney's original concept.

Please don't take the "bring back the parking lot" comments seriously--They're just a light-hearted expression of dismay at DCA's current trajectory. No one actually believes DCA could go away. And, please, please don't use internet memes to mock your fellow forum posters. You're better than that. We all are.

Literally no? It's not so black and white in my opinion. He built the park for many reasons, but for certain one of those reasons was to build a place for children and their parents to be able to have fun together. Pixar Pier accomplishes that better than a parking lot is all I'm saying.

I don't want to make any assumptions, but I wouldn't be surprised if your kids and yourself would have equally as much fun with Paradise Pier.

I think all we're saying, is that Pixar Pier is tackier than Paradise Pier, and there was no good reason for the conversion.
