Are we the only ones that have had so much planned to see and do yet didn't accomplish much of it? All of the planning and researching and so much left undone. We planned on seeing and doing so much at the resort(POFQ), yet we didn't see most of it. The same goes with the parks. I wanted to catch all of the films in each WS pavilion and the Hall of Presidents, but we never did. Do any of you guys have this happen to you?

Last time we went, we weren't able to go to Hollywood Studios or AK.
i also didn't get to ride the Jungle Cruise! :(
at least there are extra magic hours however. i think that we might stay late (as in 2/3 am) one night to ride everything in Magic Kingdom! :)

Last year I went to DHS, but we went during the Star Tours refurb. I was so pumped up to go on ST, so I was very disappointed.

Happens to me every time.

I plan to do a backstage tour, and to rent some watercraft, and to play some golf, and take a lenghty stroll to really see resort x or y.

But then I'm there...and the sun shines...and I'm riding the TTA and I can get another fastpass for SM already, or I really want to visit DHS again and do ST2 because I only spend one day there yet...

And so nothing gets accomplished. But, you know, I also let the spur of the moment decide. I do go to Florida just to sit in the sun and gawk at my castle, and if that's what I end up doing for half my time, then that's fine, not time wasted but time well spend, no regrets.

I think that's the spontaneity that Disney is attempting to eliminate by wanting you to schedule your vacation ahead of time.

This has totally happened to me. For instance, I haven't even been on the Toy Story ride since 2009 and I think I've gone two trips without Soarin' because the lines are too long and I end up seeing other things and blowing it off. Not that I missed much.

You can plan it all out ahead, sure. Forget most of those plans once you're there and just have fun.

Why, oh why, would Disney want you to be so organized that you see everything in one trip. Seems pretty counterproductive to their profit goals doesn't it? I will assume that you have already seen Soarin or it would be difficult to say "not that I missed much". Soarin doesn't have those long lines because it's a loser. TSM I have been to once and unless I happen to get there when the line is short to non-existent..I don't have a problem with that.

We need time for things to happen.
Yeah no doubt. This never happens to us we usually come home feeling like we did quite a bit..but this was a really weird year for us. We missed a ton of attractions we hit every year and
we missed a ton of stuff we planned on doing for the first time...just never got around to it.

Every trip!!

I think when we plan out our trips in our heads, we think of the days as endless possibilities - we will wake at sunrise and go to sleep well after midnight and still feel rested even though we just walked 15 miles during the day (and are used to a sedintary lifestyle).... and with endless trips, and with Disney pixie dust, we want to do sooooo much and get to do everything we think would make our trip magical. Then, reality steps in. We get tired, so we sleep a little later. The time we thought we would go over to Winter Summerland to finally play mini-golf got eaten up in a rain storm. We think it would be great to go see that hotel you hear so much about but you the bus to Downtown Disney took 40 mins to get there....and at the next stop had to load a scooter. Before you know it.....our trip is winding down and we are on the trail of tears lugging our suitcase behind us - promising next time we will be able to see this and do that. (And we start to plan our next trip! Damn you Disney! Damn you!)

I know for me, I dream about Dole Whips at least once a month. I talk about them to everyone. I can taste it. I can smell it. And then I get there and run right to Aloha Isle my first day and swear it will be the first of many. But then I have a late breakfast, or I don't want to spoil lunch, or I may be over at Space Mountain and do I really want to walk over there when I have a fast pass for Pooh in 15 mins....and it also ends up being my only Dole Whip of the trip.

It just gives me reasons to come back again, and again, and again... oh, how I wish I had a trip planned!

Every trip. This past September we had so much planned for our 10 day trip that just didn't happen (spend more time in world showcsase, more time at the resort, etc.). We start out thinking that 10 days is loads of time, and before you know it you're leaving with a large chunk of your to-do list not complete...and then try explaining to a non-Disney person, when you get home, why 10 days at WDW isn't enough time and why you keep going back.

It was so busy this past week that we missed out on alot of our must do list! I didn't get to ride Peter Pans Flight because the wait was never below an hour. Same goes for TMW, and RNR. We also skipped over most everything in AK because it was just way too hot! Add rain into that mixture and you have a whole lot of missed opportunities! Especially DTD and other resorts.

We plan so much prior to going that we fill up every minute possible. We expect some things to fall by the wayside. Can't be helped. There's special things that are must do's and some things are planned to do if there's time. The must do's on our list definitely get done. :) The other minor things we know can be done on a return trip. The most important thing to accomplish is to get the most enjoyment out of the trip. I don't fret over missed items, I just start another next year trip to do list. ;)

There were a few trips where we didn't eat at Flame Tree, but rides and attractions...I got all those in. I'm a careful planner, though. I know how much can be squeezed in and don't attempt to squeeze in too much. I also make sure we get enough sleep and have a block of time (or two) for stuff that got missed due to rain.

This is the huge fear.
Never enough time to get it all done. Only going to be there for a week and I know that's no where close to the ammount of time I really need

After 5 days in the parks in September we found it just wasn't enough time. One day we went to DTD and later the Halloween party. We never even made it to MK (except for the party) and so didn't ride but a few rides that night. Good thing were going back in January for 2 weeks!!

I absolutely know the feeling!! Me as the crazy-Type-A-plan-aholic mom have it down to a science of how we are going to go on each ride and see each show and get to each restaurant before we leave. But once we get there, and my kids/husband look at me and say "but I want to go on that one again," I have no choice but to say "ok - that's what trips are for! Let's go on ToT/ Dumbo/ POC/ Aladin/ Soarin' / Three Caballeros/ [fill in the blank] again" Note: usually when my daughter requests to ride IASW again, we are in Italy in Epcot finishing dinner or something, so it's literally like a 30-40 minute trek to get to MK and all the way back to IASW, but we do it anyway because it's her favorite and she cannot ride it enough. So, needless to say, I have yet to accomplish all I've set out to do. So, now, I just make a list of "must dos" for each trip (which usually are the things we skipped on the last trip) so that I don't miss out on any one thing too much. :)
