So frustrated by rude people at Rainforest

I am not a prejudiced person, however this nationally is known for their rudeness. The third person at the next table decides to set down almost on my daughters lap, (bench seat), and proceeds to brush her hair, with her hair flying at our table, they are speaking very loudly, and not very lady like i will add.

We tried to talk to the waitress, who said "this type always comes in here and always do what they want, regardless of how rude this is, mind you, the two new people at the table were not ordering, they just happened to walk by the table and sat down.

So, your word choice leads me to ask this question: Where were the rude people from? I mean are you describing a certain nationality/culture or race?

It is probably best left unsaid. No need to turn this thread into a racist/nationality debate. It has been on track and should stay that way.

I actually had a GOOD experience at the DTD RC in Aug of 2004. My boyfriend and I had gone to WDW for vacation and I wanted to eat there. The wait for a table at 6pm was a whopping 3-3.5 hours:dazzle: . I knew we couldn't wait that long to eat and I was bummed. He walked over to the hostess and worked his charm. We got a table in 20 minutes! I know now this was probably really rude to everyone else waiting but at the time I was really excited. (Turns out he payed her 20 bucks to give us a no-show priority table as soon as one turned up).

We had a great table next to one of the fish tanks and the meal, although extremely overpriced, was good as was the service. I guess I got lucky :D

We're going back in the end of the month and fingers crossed we'll strike it gold again there.

Well, I thnk you have only magnified the fact that the staff at RFC is not the top notch that we have come to expect from Disney. If you can slip some one a $20 and pass ahead of 30+ people waiting 3 1/2 hours to eat, they have serious staffing issues. Heck maybe if anyone that has had an issue would have slipped the manager a $20 he would have taken your complaints seriously and given you a free desset or something? :hammer:

Also Jessica618 I don't think it boast well for you to brag about something like this on a site that has thousands of Disney fans that might have been the people waiting in the line that you hubby "charmed" past.

Oh ya.. Welcome to the forums

No one can predict how the people sitting next to them will act.
It has nothing to do with nationalities.
Rude people are all over the world.
Complaining to management is all you can do.
If you don't get satisfaction, don't go back.

As far as you spending 100+ dollars and they only had burgers, that shouldn't even be a factor.
If I buy a burger, I should be treated the same as someone who spends $100 plus dollars.

My wife and I quit going to RFC years ago.
They have a bad table waiting system that we don't care for and there were always loud screaming children running around.
We prefer a more quiet atmosphere when we dine.

I ate at Rainforest last Friday and was disappointed. We had a PS for that evening, showed up 10 minutes early, and guy at the purple elephant said he'd check for the table. We asked him 10 minutes later, and he said he'd check. 40 minutes went by and still nothing. Finally I went to a different person and she yelled into the walkie-talkie "they showed up! don't clear the table!" It was ridiculous, we were waiting there the whole time right next to him and the guy did nothing. We almost lost our table because of that, then the lady said she'd "see what she could do" but did nothing. I have no plans of returning there.

I have been to RC in AK...never DTD.

I was not impressed. The hostess, if I recall was rather rude, the food was substandard (my standards, at least...I'm from New Orleans and know what good food is) and the staff was not very attentive.

As far as complaining to management...I rarely do it...If another customer is being a jerk, I just let it go and make fun of them with all the people who are sitting at my table. We get a laugh and the rude people eventually leave. However, If I saw it necessary to tell a manager, and he blew me off...I'd have to get nasty.

I'm not a little person, and my voice can get loud....well, I'd probably get thrown out of the restaurant.

I am not going to RC ever...based on my own experience and what everyone is saying.

I'd probably have to say something to the rude guests if they sat too close to someone in my party. Just say, could you please move...you are brushing your hair into the food :hurl: and we can't eat because you have taken up all the room. Then that would be another fight...ahhh...my hot temper.

And yes it does make a difference how much each group spends. There were four people who spent $100+ and 4 people who spent $30. Two of the rude four didn't eat anything...they deserve no respect as they are not paying customers. They should have been asked to leave.

I had a miserable experience at the Rainforest @ Tyson's in VA. It was terrible! We were in VA visiting my family for Christmas and were doing last minute shopping. Our party split up and some people ate and some didn't. When we met back up, we stopped by Rainforest. Those of us that hadn't eaten, ordered full meals and the rest of the party ordered a few app. sampler plates to share. The staff was SO RUDE about it!!!!They made such snotty comments that my mom left the tip in change-stacked up to as insult (and she has always been a VERY good tipper!) They need to work on customer service there!!!

However I live in St. Paul, and the staff at the Mall of America is decent.

I know this is nothing like your situation but on Christmas Day 2004, my family & I also had a table problem at the Rain Forest Cafe in Downtown Disney. My Mom Dad & I had waited 45 minutes for our table & finally our name was called. We then went to the Gorilla room where we were seated at a table for 2 people, with a extra chair put in the middle. My Mom said to the Girl who seated there are like 4 or 5 tables that can seat 4 people so can you please seat us there. Well the Girl said in a very rude voice to us well this is the table your getting & if you want one of those tables you have to wait another 45 minutes. Well another employee must have heard us complaining so he said to us that we can sit at the bigger table with out a problem. Still we told the manager about how rude the 1st employee was & he was very uderstandable to our situation. So I have no idea why he talked down to you & your family.

Next vacation to Walt Disney World
August 8-19, 2006 at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

You should have demanded a refund of your money, or at the very least a free meal. Don't let the manager talk down to you. You are the customer and are 'always' right. You can get whatever you want if you feel your complaint is justified.

I know how you feel, I get those types once in a while.

The managers and/or hosts should have had those people removed from those seats. I'm a host at a high volume restaurant in Times Square, and we dont' put up with that sort of thing. In fact us hosts have the power to get those people out of those chairs if they're not supposed to squeeze in there. The manager should have doen something.
I suggest you write I letter to their corporate office

This problem steams from the top. I had a problem last year with a VERY rude hostess. I was nothing but polite and she was rude, abrupt and insulting. I took the time to write the company headquarters with a detailed retelling of the situation and I get a stock "give us a call so we may further assist you" letter. Not a "we are sorry" or any kind of apology from the head of customer service at all. So much time had past since the letter arrived that I didn't even bother with the call. Very bad customer service.

To be fair, this works at, oh, I dunno, pretty much every restaurant on Earth. This isn't a character flaw in her boyfriend, its a fact of life. Many hosts at much finer restaurants than Rainforest Cafe make a few hundred a night in tips.

But about RC, definitely the 2nd most overpriced and overrated chain in the US. Weak food, bad service, and eating while surrounded by a bunch of canned sound effects? How could anyone possibly pass up going there? Next time just go to Olive Garden and pay the 8 year old at the table next to you five bucks to make animal sounds all night--should save you some trouble.

It appears that you're still at WDW. Even though RC is not owned by Disney, they are one Disney property with a contract to look out for. You need to go down to guest services and just let them know what happened and be sure they get some of the details. Hopefully, that information will trickle out to the people that deal with the partnerships. They would probably have the knowledge and contacts to get RC to see the need for changes.

We've been to RC once at AK. Never again... too expensive for the lack of quality of food and service.

The people who work at RC do not wear disney nametages which makes them not part of disney. Disney does not hire them. so gs will tell you who to contact.

In my eyes, it doesn't matter-the employees of RC are still representing WDW to guests who don't know otherwise. I work at a hotel and we lease out space to McCormick & Schmick's restaurant. Guests don't know that we aren't the owners-they don't know that we don't have any part of it except as renters. They get bad service and they complain to us. They see the workers parking on the lower levels of the garage and smoking at the front doors, they complain to us. And we have to smile and nod and apologize-because it is on our property. And then we have to go to their management and work something out. It's the same with RC and Disney. Bad service shouldn't be tolerated anywhere, least of all at WDW-where their service is known worldwide.

I never impied it was a character flaw w/ her boyfriend. I clearly stated it is a flaw w/ RFC. I agree with you that RFC is not the only place things like this happen. The only thing is, this is a thread about RFC and not every other finer restaurant.
