So frustrated by rude people at Rainforest

Tonight myself, husband and two teenage daughters went to Rainforest Cafe at downtown Disney, since we are down here for vacation, anyhow we were seated at a table for four, with two of our seats being on a bench type seating, and right next to us was a couple who came in after us. After we got our food, two more people decided to join thetable next two us, which meant four of them in a two person table. I am not a prejudiced person, however this nationally is known for their rudeness. The third person at the next table decides to set down almost on my daughters lap, (bench seat), and proceeds to brush her hair, with her hair flying at our table, they are speaking very loudly, and not very lady like i will add. This kept getting worse, my daughter couldn't even cut her meat, because the women is practically on her lap. We tried to talk to the waitress, who said "this type always comes in here and always do what they want, regardless of how rude this is, mind you, the two new people at the table were not ordering, they just happened to walk by the table and sat down. We talked to the manager, we were upset we spent 134.00 on our meal, and the table next two us, only ordered two burgers. That would have been fine, if that was their table, and it was a table for four, but it wasn't. What even upset us more, the manager bascially told us, oh well, get over it. I tried to explain, it was our table, we should be able to eat our meal, no avail. To top it off, the extra third person, put the plate off of their table and set it on ours. Has anyone else had this problem? We will not go back to rainforest, simply because of the mamagers attitude, not even an apology.

You should have demanded a refund of your money, or at the very least a free meal. Don't let the manager talk down to you. You are the customer and are 'always' right. You can get whatever you want if you feel your complaint is justified.

I know how you feel, I get those types once in a while.

Plenty of times, I haven't seen it effect me like this, but I have seen plenty of jack @$$'s at the parks. I must say you handled it well, I probobly would have gone off on those people in that situation, but thats just me. Sorry to hear about your experience though, it's a shame that the riff raff are able to come to Disney too. :lookaroun

I am really sorry to hear about this. It seems the service and management at Rainforest is going down. If it was recent (sounds like it was), I would also send an email to Guest Relations for Disney. Explain you realize this is an outside company, but that it does reflect on your Disney experience. While they only have agreements, there are standards that are to be upheld.

I had a bad experience at the Rainforest, too. This was going back like a year and a half ago. The waitress was just completely and utterly rude when she did acknowledge us, and she didn't come back after she gave us our meals until she delivered the check. Normally, I wouldn't care, but there was practically no one in the place. I think we were eating at an akward time... 4ish maybe. I work retail, I understand that no matter how bad of a day your having, you need to put on your game face at work. She just didn't have it. So I went to complain and the manager was just like, "okay...". I have a hard time, I feel, because of my age. I feel like people can get away with more, because we are a group of 20 (well, now 22) year olds. Well, that doesn't fly with me. But in this case I was like oh forget it...

But I still love that place. Oh well.

While you did your utmost to get your complaint across AND remain calm and civil, it looks like you should have taken it a step further - get the managers name, an address and tele number for the company where you could take your grievance further AND finally, consider ony part payment for the meal as you refuse to share your table with rude mannered strangers :hurl:

At one time Rainforest was one of the best places to eat at WDW but it has gone downhill in the areas of waitstaff, management and food quality really fast. When the 2 new restaurants were announced a few days ago I was thrilled, until I read that they are going to be owned by Landry, the same company that owns Rainforest. I highly recommend contacting Landry restaurants and letting them know what happened and also contact guest services at WDW. Granted Rainforest is not owned by Disney but if guest services gets enough flack about Rainforest hopefully they can step in and make things right.

It appears that you're still at WDW. Even though RC is not owned by Disney, they are one Disney property with a contract to look out for. You need to go down to guest services and just let them know what happened and be sure they get some of the details. Hopefully, that information will trickle out to the people that deal with the partnerships. They would probably have the knowledge and contacts to get RC to see the need for changes.

We've been to RC once at AK. Never again... too expensive for the lack of quality of food and service.

Had a bad experience there too. There was a fair wait for a table but the host could barely bring himself to speak to us. His answer to the question of an estimated time for a table was 'hour'. One word. Even though tables were emptying it was still, 'hour'. After half an hour we went to Capt Jacks and were seated immediately. Their customer service sucks and I've never given them another penny and never will.

But as for the rude customer, I wouldn't have stood that. Would have seen the manager first but if I was treated that badly, then I'D cause merry hell and and I'm damn sure they'd be moved or I'd be moved and I'm sure they wouldn't get a penny off me unless it was sorted to my satisfaction. Lifes too short to put up with rude and unreasonable people.

I'm sorry to say that this is the state of the world today. Manners and politeness have gone right out of the window. It's very refreshing when you meet a nice person or child with good manners though!

I'll never go back

We made priority seating arrangements at the Rainforest Cafe outside the Animal Kingdom. We were seated immediately and the place was nearly empty. We also had a 3 year old along and had spent a long day in the park. 10 minutes later our waitress was no where to be found so I found the manager and he said he'd take care of it. 10 minutes later, still no waitress. I went out to the hostess, pointed out where we were sitting and found out that the first hostess sat us in a section that was not assigned a waiter/waitress. Now I was ed, tracked down the manager, told him exactly what had happened and...nothing. No apology, no promise of a discount, nothing. We packed up and left and told him we were never coming back. He said, and I quote, "good." I'll never go back to the Rainforest Cafe.

I also had bad service at the RF at the AK. The waitress didnot seem to
care about my table for 2, and waited on the larger crowds.
Thats ok with me, it saved me tip money. :fork:

We have problem with Rainforest in DTD a couple of years ago. I contacted Landry about the : problem with had a meal. I never and I mean never heard from them.:brick: Most companies acknowedge there is a problem, but they did not.

We will never go back to the Rainforst Cafe.:hammer:

Wow, this really making me re-think going to RC when I go to WDW in May.. I can't believe that management in a service industry would act like that. Although I have been to Rainforest Cafe in other cities (with Niagara Falls, Canada being the best one), and have had some minor problems, I've never heard of these situations and considerable lack of response from managment.. Thanks for the information.. I'll just make priority seating reservations at another restaurant!

Different Experience

I've had different experiences. I live in Minnesota - we have a RFC at the Mall of America. We go at least 6 or 7 times a year. We always eat there when we go to the Mall. We've always had great service. I joined their Safari Club because for $15, you get a membership for life, a $10 gift certificate right away in the mail, a $5 gift certificate every year for your birthday and the anniversary of joining. Your get 10% off merchandise. You get 10% off your bill or a free appetizer and the BEST part, you get priority seating. This means if you go to the one at DTD or AK, and there's a long line - you show them your card and they will put you in the line to go into the restaurant.

Back to the service - we're on our 11th trip to WDW and every time we eat at either the one at AK or DTD. The worst case scenario for us would be the food took a little while to get to us. I don't mean to change the way the thread is going but I'm hoping the people that have not tried it, will try it first before becoming completely turned off. We've had some great meals there.

That was the case at WDW up until a couple of years ago. Like you I am a safari club member and RC was a must do every time we went to WDW. The wife and I even had our rehearsal dinner there when we got married. But as of late they are slipping big time. I am not one to complain much but RC at WDW is really on a bad downward track. If I had to guess I think they are simply just too busy and have become complacent. The only cure for that it to hit them in the wallet. Hopefully then they will straighten up.
