So conflicted...which moderate resort?

I thought that I had narrowed it down to Coronado or Caribbean, but they have the two lowest ratings of the moderate resorts on Trip Advisor. The pics of the Port Orleans resorts on the Disney website must not do them justice. They look old and run down, but they have the highest ratings on Trip Advisor. French Quarter is 41/390 and Riverside is 62/390.

Are these two just as kid friendly as the other resorts? Good water slides and pools?

What makes the Port Orleans resorts better than the other moderate resorts?

Stayed at the POFQ last August and loved it. Others have already stated the reasons why it's so great - nice theming, great pool, short walk to main building and buses, and relatively quiet even when fully booked. Will definitely stay there again.

POR was the first Disney resort we stayed at in '92 (it was called Dixie Landings back then). We Loved It!!! We hadn't been married 2 years yet and we still think of that '92 trip as our honeymoon. When you get up early to take advantage of EMH and walk to the bus stop, the fog is just lifting off the river. No one seems to mention how romantic this resort is but my wife and I have a real soft spot in our hearts for POR. I hope your stay is as magical as ours was 17 years ago!

My god you guys sound like us!!! We stayed there back in 96' When it was still Dixie Landings for our honeymoon...Very Romantic, We loved Being in the Bayou Section...But also the mansions were beautiful as well!!! We had gone back every year(somtimes more ) up until 2006 when we finally took the jump and became DVC members....I felt like I was cheating on POR !!!!..POR will always be special to us as well, Please when we became dvc I asked my hubby if you could go back to POR every now and then..To me Its a resort that has everything, The grounds are beautiful, the food court has something for everyone....You have the general store, the great muddy rivers bar near the pool...and then you have Bob the Piano man!!!! Can't beat it!!!!

I miss when they use to play the creole country banjo music throughout the resort, the food court and check in area.....
Yes good times!!!

You probably have seen this one but if you haven't it is awesome. We just got back from a Feb 09 stay at POR and the biggest difference between the POFQ and the POR is the food court and common areas. The POR has a much nicer/larger/cleaner common area than the POFQ. Both are absolutely beautiful and none of the pictures do them justice. Good luck with you decision!

All the mods are nice enough, but Coronado is the most beautiful of them and has the best pool area, and now has the queen beds.

Don't go by trip advisor ever in my opinion. I have been to every Moderate except coronado , which i am doing my next trip at. CB beautiful and i prefer it over PORS or POFQ any day. But with all of them you can not go wrong.
