HAHA, just watched the video...Once he sliced the three inch thick (!) piece of bread I said out loud "oh boy, this can't be good for me"....

It'll be my first breakfast item I try down there!

I read somewhere that at the Polynesian, someone took their toast out to a hammock at the resort and sat on the beach in the morning and ate breakfast. Where would I be able to get it "to go" (not staying at the Poly).

Well it being served in the morning is why I have never had this, but I fear I may have to wake up and drag myself down there for this. While it may have the potential to strike one down with a single bite, it does look rather good.

Well here's the true meaning of Tonga Toast..Way back in a time long long ago..A certain explorer discovered these islands ( 176 in total make up the Kingdom of Tonga ) Anyway, his galley cooks were preparing breakfast on one of the islands, underneath a banana tree, when all of a sudden, a bunch of bananas fell on one of the cooks head,so he peeled the banana, dipped it into some sugar, slapped it between several slices of bread, and toasted it on the fire..Utopia!! ...Tonga Toast was invented..Honest!

Three of us skipped the MK our last morning for Tonga Toast. It was yummy but it didn't rock my world. I've had better stuffed french toast. I found it a bit light on the stuffing and heavy on the bread.
Still worth trying once.

Yep Captain Cook's (QS at the Poly) However they don't give you the strawberry syrup along with it, like they do at Kona. It is delish, but VERY sweet. We normally order the tonga toast and big kahuna and split it. Just delightful!!!!!
Yeah, I have tried the strawberry syrup...yummmmmmy. But I can't have it and am not supposed to eat the tonga toast either, so we get one at CC and share it and I bring along my own tiny bottle of sugar free syrup for the little portion I get...Totally worth the sugar spike, but oh how I would love to eat a whole one at Kona just soaked in that strawberry syrup.

I can honestly tell you, I have never been able to eat an entire order! LOL
