So can anyone explain the Legend of Jack Sparrow to me?

It absolutely wins the award for the worst attraction currently at Disney. I remember leaving and being upset at how much time it took out of my day. The aesthetic design is quite impressive and the projection of Johnny Depp is clever and innovative. But it is a BORING and poorly written show. It makes Stitch's Great Escape look like a fantastic attraction.

ANYTHING?

Yes anything, I would stand there for ten minutes and watch Johnny Depp read the phone book.

But the part that bothers me most is the HORRIBLE voice acting on Davy Jones. You got Johnny to film for half a day, and you couldn't hit Bill Nighy up for 2 minutes of ADR?

Which is pretty strange. They managed to get him for Disney Infinity and they couldn't get him for the attraction.

I went in September 2013 and thought it was the "pre-show". When it was over and the doors opened to go outside I was very disappointed to say the least. I wouldn't waste my time again and like it was stated above, you stand throughout.

Did you ever do the Prince Caspian attraction? I know this current attraction is not exactly a home run but sheesh...talk about a let down. The doors opened...you walked through some movie costumes and then the harsh reality of sunshine, humid heat and the reality of having been duped LOL!

Totally worth it just to see the Depp projection and effects. Heck I barely remember the plot because I just kept admiring how great the projection was.

The kids in the crowd enjoyed its interactivity.

I've been back to DHS tons of times and haven't been back through, so it's not a must, but go see it at least once.

The kids (not mine) swore it was a live actor. I told them Johnny Depp doesn't have to do this for a living. They said it was a look a like. I couldn't convince them otherwise so I made them ask the CM. I guess it's not readily apparent to a lot of people. Which is pretty impressive in itself when you think about it.

The script draws barely a chuckle and the "interaction" requires that you mumble some words. I have a better time singing along with animatronic Johnny Depp during an offload traffic jam on PotC.

I'm a little surprised at how many of you are impressed with the Johnny Depp projection.

First of all, the take they got from Depp was terrible. I realize that it's a bit of a long set to do all in one take, but he seems so bored and tired of the character, probably because at this point he's bored and tired of the character.

Second, the projection technology they're using just isn't that ambitious. Depp is projected high above and far back from the viewers' heads and in front of a black background, so it's readily-apparent that you're looking at a projection. The Musion Eyeliners Universal uses for a similar effect at Forbidden Journey and especially the Christopher Walken effect in Disaster! are far more advanced, despite both being installed before "Legend of Jack Sparrow". Moreover, they're just preshow elements rather than the focus of their respective attractions, making Disney's effort all the more embarrassing.

It's basicially a ride where ou waste 20 minutes screaming "GET ME OUT OF HERE".

On a posisitive note, it IS Slighty better than the narnia ride.

You know, they probably could have done a lot more with Jack Sparrow. I always found the Narnia attraction a little weird and underwhelming

God bless the "Ignore" button.
This is the single worst Orlando attraction I have ever experienced.

Take a PG-13 franchise like Pirates, then have the writers of Dora write a script. "Stomp your feet like a pirate!" "Yell 'Arrrgh!' at the pirate!" "Sing along to the song no one knows the words to!"

The digital mapping is underutilized and this Captain Jack projection people are so excited about can be seen in no fewer than four locations at Universal, in preshows and queues.

Name me any attraction in Orlando worse than this and I'll eat my hat.

Narnia. This is the second worst ever. But right now, its the worst here right now, cause Narnia is gone (To make this, wow)

But yeah, spot on with explanation.

Should've built a ride instead.

I kind of thought that too but when you think about the footprint of the attraction it really is very small and probably would not allow for a ride especially when you take into account a loading area. It usually does not seem like it while you are enjoying the rides but ride buildings themselves are massive. Do some Google Earth perusing and you can get an idea of how big even something as small scale as Peter Pan is and that would give you some idea of the amount of space a true ride takes up. TLJS is a small corner of a building and not really much real estate in the grand scheme of things.

On the flip side though (and only my opinion) not everything needs to be a ride. They at least brought something top the table with decent effects and themeing that allows a somewhat immersive experience. No, it is not for everyone nor is it an E-ticket BUT at least it is not a closed off area or overlay so I will take it as a plus in my book.

And that's very true. While I wouldn't do it every trip (I certainly didn't do it the last trip), I think it's worth a visit every other trip, provided the lines aren't long.
