Snow White closing date???

I won't even go through with an argument about whether or not something is scary ("to each their own" will win that argument), but WOW.

In pseudo alphabetical order by their "official" names:

1. Astro Orbiter
2. Barnstormer
3. BTMR
4. Buzz Lightyear SRS
5. CoP
6. Country Bear Jamboree
7. Dumbo
8. Tiki Room
9. HoP
10. iasw
11. Jungle Cruise
12. Riverboat
13. Tea Cups
14. Magic Carpets
15. Pooh
16. Philharmagic
17. Monster's Inc Laugh Floor
18. Peter Pan
19. Pirates
20. Carousel
21. Snow White
22. Space Mountain
23. Splash Mountain
24. Stitch's Great Escape
25. Treehouse
26. TSI
27. Speedway
28. TTA
29. WDW railroad

plus HM. So >2 out of every 3 from the list above must be preferred over HM for HM not to be in your top 20 (unless you start including parades/M&Gs/restaurants).

It's kinda mind blowing to me, but to reiterate, to each their own...

(also, if HM is scary - I would assume Pirates is also scary?)

I can't speak foe cbconglom, but for me, I like Pirates much better. Although my favorite part is the animals and humour - the doggie with the keys, the braying donkey and barking doggie singing along, the pig and parrot, the chasing chickens, etc. I also like the theme song better than the gloomy, minor-key mansion music. Frankly, I never cared for the story though - or the pirates themselves. I always feel bad for the poor people who's town burns down, through no fault of their own, because of those villainous pirates! :)

Ok, since I've inadvertantly offended the fanboy sacred cow (HM), to the point where lists are being compiled to figure out how my ranking (and other fans who don't rank it top 20) can possibly be true, I may as well contribute one of my own to illustrate how I can enjoy (for my taste) 20 MK attractions more than HM.

I rate in two categories, THRILLS and AESTHETICS, with everything that's not a roller coaster appearing in the latter category. Being a hard core coaster enthusiast, the coasters are clearly in my Top 20, but I find it impossible to rank them against the attractions that I like on an emotional, rather than physical level, as they are two COMPLETELY different things.

THRILLS

1) Space Mouuntain
2) Big Thunder Mountain
3) Barnstormer

AESTHETICS/STORY/ATMOSPHERE

1a) It's A Small World
1b) Splash Mountain (based on the dark ride/critter elements)
3) Many Adventures Of Winnie the Pooh
4) Country Bear Jamboree
5) Mickey's Philharmagic
6) Peter Pan's Flight
7) Snow White's Adventures
8) Enchanted Tiki Room (will move up to 4 or 5 when the original show returns)
9) Dumbo, the Flying Elephant
10) Cinderella's Golden Carousel
11) Mad Tea Party
12) Toontown walk-throughs (Mickey's House, Minnie's House, and Donald's Boat - the Mouse homes were my favorite walk-through attractions in Disney history as they were EXTREMELY cute and full of fun details. And I know technically they are gone now, but since they were there on my last visit, I'll still count them)
13) Carousel Of Progress
14) Jungle Cruise
15) Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
16) Pirates Of the Carribean
17) Liberty Square Riverboat
18) Horse Drawn Streetcars (it's simple, but it has real animals!)
19) Walt Disney World Railroad
20) Peoplemover

Well, you get the idea. I've listed 23 (3 in the thrill category and 20 others) that I both ride more, and enjoy more, than the Haunted Mansion ;)

(Even if you take out the now defunct Toontown walk-throughs, that's still 22, since I grouped those together as one).

PS. And since you mentioned parades - I like MSEP and Spectro more than Mansion as well, and even more than many of the attractions I've listed as "faves" on my list. And the same goes for Wishes, and the Christmas parade...

This is David S. we are talking about. He loves things that are cute and character-based (whether from the animated films or original park characters like CBJ, Tiki, IASW, and Figment), have catchy music, heart, and make him feel in touch with his inner child.

Fixed that for you, to be more truthful and less inflamatory. These are all timeless, quintesentially "Disney" qualities, and there is nothing "outdated" about that!

I would prefer you not modify a quotation to appear I wrote something other than what was, in fact, written.

Thank you for your future consideration.

The "fixed that for you" makes it clear that it was modified, and is common practice around these parts. It's no more snarky than you've been to me in other past threads, and arguably much less so, as I said nothing negative about you personally - but was, rather, defending myself and my tastes. But I'll try to remember it bothered you, and next time (if there IS a next time) I'll try to say something like "a better way of putting it would have been..." without modifying it by using the quote feature.

pirates not scary :) very fun and actually one of my favorites i guess in real life i would much rather be killed by a pirate then haunted by a ghost. as in if i were to watch a horror movie which i don't i would much prefer one where some crazy guy killed everyone then a movie about evil spirits. anywho my favorites are pry pirates splash philarmagic and soarin

Typically such an effort would have used either bolded or strikethrough text to indicate the modifications.

Again, thank you for your consideration.

Actually we are getting a whole new Snow White ride that is shaping up to be much grander in scale than the existing ride.

Trust me, Snow White is my #1 ride and I'd be screaming to high heck if we weren't getting something "better" in return.

Will the new ride contain the scary elements of the witch? As an adult, she still gives me a good scare! So I'll miss her if she is not in the coaster.

I doubt it, Penelope :/ Unless there are random, mood-whiplash inducing bits they haven't told us about, I think it's just a jolly little coaster through the mines with a few stops for the dwarves.

Oh Gosh I hope not.

That sounds awfully boring.

If the Witch isn't there, I'll be very very disappointed.

Despite getting a new Snow White ride with a lot of charming scenery and thrills, I'm going to be irked by that fact that they are gutting a classic dark ride for a Meet-N-Greet area. I like meet-n-greets, but there taking out a ride for a photo-op, which to me seems like a downgrade.

I think what drives me to like Snow White is the scary elements of the attraction, and the cheesy 70s flair. While Peter Pan is mostly about scenery, Snow White makes me feel involved. I loved going through the haunted woods and being chased by the log Crocodiles. I've gotten surprised on several occasions by the effects, no matter how old they've become.

I guess I'll have another attraction to enjoy at Disneyland that doesn't exist at WDW anymore.

The Snow White building that's being gutted for the princess meet-up will eventually used for an attraction. well... at least i hope it will anyway :lookaroun

I'm wondering if they're going to gut it entirely to the point where it's only exterior walls and a cement floor or if they'll keep the ride track in for future use and just build a temp floor over it. D'you think they'll recycle some props and such for the new ride? I'm kinda excited to see where the old props and such end up

I am pretty sure Lee said they will build over the track so it can be used in the future as an attraction!

Correct they ate leaving the track under the new floor.
I would imagine that there is no real good reason to remove it. When putting something into an existing building installing a raised floor has many advantages. In particular running, wiring, plumbing, etc becomes much easier. If the existing track is not interfering with the new utilities removing it would be an unnecessary expense.

Agreed but I can always hope onday they will reuse it.

Exactly, and just because they are leaving the track there does not mean that a ride is planned in the near or far future in there. It's of course always possible, but I'd guess if they decided in the long term to re-relocate the princess M&G and put in a new ride, they'd probably want to change the ride system anyway to upgrade it to whatever their new vision is.

My guess, unless the M&G business declines drastically in the future (which my guess is no), this M&G location is going to be in it's current location for a long, long time.
