Snow White Changes...

Sorry if this is raising an old + tired subject but what exactly are these changes that have been made to Snow White's Adventure in Magic Kingdom?

I don't think I've been on that one for some years but I keep stumbling across people complaining that it's been toned down due to complaints or something?

Is there any truth in that?

So have they waterered down the Witch's involvement now for the sake of the kids?

That's madness...she's an integral part of the story...

Lemme just say...going into the "comforting" 7 Dwarves home in the original ride......AHHH!

JCrane - not really. The original Snow Whites Adventures in the MK didn`t have Snow White in it - yep, you read that correct. The guest was meant to be SW, but this was usually lost on the average visitor. The ride was being re designed for Euro Disneyland at the time, so the MK had a copy made and installed it in WDW too - the one you see today. Some sets were removed and/or enhanced, the effects were improved, and you now have a happy ending - instead of the Witch being hit by lightning, originally she did manage to drop the boulder on you and poor Snow White. Nice!

Wow I'm all enlightened now. I KNEW I remembered being scared to death on that ride as a kid, but everytime I ride it nowadays I can't even fathom what I was so scared of before. It all makes sense now! I had no clue there was a rehab.

That's disney magic , i mean as a kid, you go to the park 1 day and then come back another and the ride is different, it's like they do it over night...

Yep, the Magic Mirror is early on in the attraction, and has been in the same place in both versions.

Ditto. That ride scared me more the the HM, when I was a kid. Actually, it still scares my 5 year old. She will go on POTC but not Snow White. :hammer:

Does anyone know of where I can see a video of the old version online? Sounds like I missed out on something cool.

Funnily enough, yes. It`s a bit dark (well, it was a dark ride) but I`ve done a Fantasyland history trilogy. Geoffrey Nease has it for download at http://geoffreynease.com/download.php - in the MK folder. Part 2 has Snow White (and both tracks of Mr Toad too!)

I remember riding Snow White back in 1978. I was 10 and it scared me to death!!! I remember one scene when a gem filled mine car came flying out of a wall towards you. I also remember it being a darker ride. Lots of things poping up and coming at you in the original attraction.

I completely agree. I remember the witch coming out to scare me and when I was older I never saw the same thing.

By my count the Witch/Queen appears seven times during the ride (plus twice in the mural in the load/unload area). Snow White appears four times during the ride (plus once in the mural). So although compared to the original version of the ride the Witch may be much less intense, she is certainly still the driving point of the ride.

(I've been on this ride, oh, a few times.)

It's like I told Len Testa from the Unofficial Guide: at this point I've pretty much reached the zen of Snow White. :hammer:

No, originally it was just called "Snow White's Adventures". After the rehab it was substantially less scary, but they still added the word to the name. Go figure.
