I was a on there 2 weeks ago it looked terrible. 1 of the screens in scene 3 didn't work Ellen at was gone too. I hope they shut it down soon or refurbish it just to make it look better.
Do my eyes deceive me??? I was watching a video of the Disneyland RR. It passes through a prehistoric tunnel before getting back to mainstreet. I could have sworn that there are two scenes that look identical to UoE main scenes. The two I am referring to are T-Rex fight scene and the apatosaurus eating at the opening scene.
Reminded me of how Imagineers always try to plus things. In my mind they plused the tunnel by making a whole new ride in EPCOT.
By the way. I find the Disneyland steam train annoying by the fact that you are sitting sideways the whole time. I much prefer WDW train that has normal forward sitting arrangement. I have not rode the DLR steam train first hand, only seen videos showing this. But annoying all the same.
I definitely prefer the Disneyland RR over the WDW version. Better stop locations, and the Grand Canyon/Primordial Swamp scene is a nice plus.
The RR is just one more example of the MK getting a stripped down version of a Disneyland original. MK was never meant to be the centerpiece of WDW.
Why would it still be operating without a screen working?? Like.. WHY??? That should be a sign for a shut down! That's like 10 or 15 minutes of a giant blank screen! That's awful! That's like riding the nemo ride at epcot with the turtle-wave screen off.
You don't need all the screens to be working to take a nap.
To most guests, the pavilion is fully-functional.
I prefer Ellen's Energy Adventure over a railroad ride. I still stand my ground on the fact that I like this ride. It just needs an upgrade. Nothing wrong with the base of the attraction.
Oh, and by the way... Florida's "It's a Small World" and "Undersea Adventure" are better than Disneyland Resort's attractions. Just saying. Argue the nostalgia for small world, but the WDW version is much better.
WDW also still has the Peoplemover while Disneyland's sits there abandoned. You could argue you have Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, but WDW still has Country Bear Jamboree (My personal favorite.).
The parks are really just apples and oranges. The only way you can choose between the two is based on how biased you are.

I'm not going to head into a DL vs WDW discussion, but I agree that I do still like Universe of Energy. I wish it was more relevant, and updated, but I still like it and the overall concept.
I was simply comparing the WDW and DL rail road, absent any other attractions. I understand the primordial forest scene is plussed in UoE, but I still like the DL rail road more than the WDW rail road.
And the CBJ is also one of my favorites. Glad we still have it on this side.
I think I just had a misunderstanding when I read your posts. All is good.
This ride needs a serious redo.
I used to love it but on my visit last month it was in rough shape. Not to mention how dated it feels.
I still think I'd prefer a Primeval World experience where you'd be able to take it in longer, so I lean a little towards Energy.I definitely prefer the Disneyland RR over the WDW version. Better stop locations, and the Grand Canyon/Primordial Swamp scene is a nice plus.

It seems to me that the snake like dino was back when I was there last in February 2016. Ellen is still missing and for what it is worth, it is a good thing. It looked nothing like her and nothing gets missed by the absence.Snake gone, Ellen animatronic gone, doors not working, no fog or water effects at all, no curtains.
Basically no special effects left besides a few animatronics.
WDWRR is better because the locomotives are all so powerful and huge vs the tiny plantation locomotives at DL.I was only comparing the WDW Railroad to the DL Railroad - not the DL Railroad Primeval Forest scene to the Universe of Energy. Between DL Railroad Primeval scene and the UoE dinorama, Energy wins, hands down.
All I am saying is between the DL Railroad and the WDW Railroad, I prefer Disneyland's Railroad.
Is a way I like that though... I miss the overall optimistic view of the future the 80s had.I still love it, but it feels like I stepped into the late eighties whenever I ride this attraction. It's really funny, but it doesn't get any care that it deserves
As are Ellen, Bill Nye, Alex Trebek, and "Stupid Judy."I will miss it when it goes , but it is definitely showing its age .
