I believe you're pretty limited on snacks (i.e. one fruit, one drink, one ice cream, etc.) I'm sure someone else will have a better idea than me. But I'm not banking on breakfast consisting of the snack. I'll probably buy a quick something in the morning and save my snack for later in the day...

From what I'm hearing/seeing, you won't be able to get, like, a breakfast sandwich or bagel or anything like that as a snack on the dining plan.
Wherever you go, snacks that ARE eligible with have a "DDP" symbol next to it on the overhead menu. Probably a good rule of thumb is, if it's the sort of thing you'd eat for a meal, it's probably not a snack. Unless, of course, you live on Mickey Ears & popcorn, in which case, disregard my suggestion.

We just got back in Jan, and it was pretty much anything under $4 that you can eat or drink.

We had the dining plan last summer when we went. We generally tried to use the snack for something that would be most worth it ie. nachos at the counter service restaurant in the Contemporary, or frozen slushy drinks at Goofys Candy Company. Those were both great snack redemptions. The nacho serving is huge, and really could be considered a meal, if thats your sort of thing. The ice cream Mickey Heads were popular too. But if we wanted something that wasn't very expensive, then we'd pay for it ourselves. Get the most bang for your buck, y'know?
You can go to your resort store instead of the food court and get a dozen donuts (or 8 chocolate donuts) for one snack credit. You can also get a 1/2 gallon of milk for one credit.
You can get cereal and milk for ONE credit at the food court. You can also get the huge muffins/baked goods at your food court and the bakery on mainstreet in MK for one credit each. You can get a fruit bowl at your resort for one snack credit. You can't use a snack credit for the bakery in France at World Showcase, but you can in Norway.

I wouldn't recommend saving snacks, you think you're going to run out, but the last two times, we have so many snacks left, we had to get them "to go". Next time, i'm just going to use what I have, and pay for whatever I need later, but I doubt I will run out of snacks. Usually you're so full from the other 2 meals you don't have time for a snack.
And December, thanks for posting the list. It sure has grown since the last time I've seen it which is good news for all of us!

most items less than $4 that are non merchandise, and non alcoholic count as snack credits - kid's meals (most at $3.99) are not counted as snacks nor are pizza slices.

Sorry to bump an old thread...I've been thinking about this. Last year I tried at several places to get different snacks (i.e. soft serve ice cream, egg roll, milk shake) and was always told that they had to have the DP symbol next to them. They really enforced the snack list...soft drink, popcorn, packaged ice cream from a cart.
Do we have any Disney employees who can comment on the rules?
I was just wondering how much energy to use up trying to get some of these special snacks!

Ah, but the rules have changed. Since last May, Disney has greatly increased the number of food items that count as a snack. The only energy you will need to use up is the energy moving from one snack place to the next trying all of the yummy treats.

We didn't have any problems in Dec. using our snacks for items on that list. In AK the kids all got floats (somewhere near Safarri I believe) and their snack floats came with souvineer Pluto straws.
