At the MK, the dead-end walkway towards GF.
Which would be a good spot before a smoker enters the park. But not so after that.

Figures....
Double that, the main difference may be reports of higher smoking rate in lower income brackets vs higher incomes needed to afford a Disney vacation in the first place.
Many of us ARE talking with experience seeing this first hand. You aren't.
Once again. They aren't banning smoking because it's culturally dead. They are banning smoking because they don't want to deal with medical and legalized recreational marijuana. It's not hard to see why they're doing this when they had no issue for over 50 years offering smoking sections.
I'm personally surprised Disneyland didn't try and ban them a long time ago.
So we can all go on our soapbox and express our feelings about smoking, but I'm pretty sure Disney isn't doing this because they care you're getting second hand smoke and that smoking kills people and that smoking is "dead" (it just isn't; take a walk around Manhattan sometime ... you'll smell both; no one cares and smokes where they want and it's not enforced, you have people deliberately smoking in front of a hotel that says "NO SMOKING" ...)
...do they really want all those people going in and out of the front gate all day?
Have you ever BEEN in one of those boxes? Even as a smoker it's nauseating. I'd take my chances outside (something you can't do at airports). Besides, what's inside - must be vented outside.
They had one in vegas when I went about ten years ago. It was filled with slot machines. That's interesting. I wonder why their numbers are so different from the CDC's (which I corrected was actually 14% ).
Also, slightly off topic, do they really still have smoking rooms at some airports? I remember sitting in one in Atlanta as an underaged smoker. I haven't seen one in years that was still in use.
Oh dear...here we go down the rabbit hole.
First, you should hate carcinogens. There’s little debate there.
Second, and this is philosophical, but smoking is the one bad/destructive habit that often takes the others not participating’s right of avoiding it away. I believe the main reason it’s no longer popular is the fact you can’t quarantine it. You can “not have” my beer...and I can “not have” your cheeseburger grease...however I cannot “not have” the fumes unless I often take a circuitous, trailblazing path around you in a flanking pattern while factoring in wind conditions.
I have no choice...which occurred to me every time I went past the awful smoking area near the treehouse.
The reality is it’s no longer “individual rights” when it takes it away from others. Big brother will always win that scenario.
There are other - OBVIOUS - factors...especially economic in WDW...but that doesn’t really matter.
This was going to happen anyway...no debate.
https://publichealthmatters.blog.go...on-tobacco-smoking-in-england-hits-a-new-low/And you know who's mostly in the smoking sections? People not from America (but they're still there too). They still smoke like it's in style (any of our British regulars want to chime in?). This is going to be a problem for Disney.
You're an interesting person. Why do you care one way or another about my personal conduct; as if it has any bearing on the behavior of other park guests that may vape?Ah ok so in the regular world you are above the rules but not at Disney

Why not discuss the policy and its impacts? You can judge me all you want; I couldn't care less, but how about addressing my actual point? People are going to start vaping outside of those now defunct designated areas.
Do you not think that is more of a problem than having two smoking areas?
Feel free to go back to armchair QB'ing my behavior in public .
Vaping is not a tobacco product. Although it’s always lumped in with cigarettes. I don’t even have nicotine in mine. The only way this works is if they forbid tobacco products inside the gate, Disney wouldn’t have to be strict about it for everyone but if someone complains about another person smoking it would empower CM and security to ask that person to turn out their pockets if they have smoking parafenalia you either turn it over or get kicked out.
Sorry, but if the survey relies on self-reporting, people are just not going to tell the government the truth. Hence all those "non-smokers" holding their cigarettes out of the window as they drive down the street.
Besides, and more importantly - what's inside - must be vented outside.
You think this is about marijuana? The “great evil” of the pearl clutches?
No...not at all.
This is about numbers. Far more people are repulsed by smoking than tolerate it now...that’s just a 40 year trend.
Repulsion leads to more economic hesitation.
This is about profits...and profits flow along the path of lesser residtence.
With all due respect...it doesn’t matter what goes on in the smoking sections anymore.
As much as it did matter that we couldn’t fill the 3 outta 33 smoking buildings at Caribbean 20 years ago.
