Smoking areas at Wilderness Lodge?

They took away benches?

Yes and no. There are fewer benches in the park than there used to be, the walkways are more crowded so benches that stick out into the walkway became less practical. But a lot of new areas have low walls that can be sat on. Additionally benches have been reduced in the hub area as many people were standing on them to try and view parades and it became seen as a safety hazard.
So yes there are fewer benches and fewer places to sit, but there are still some spots.

Also it does look like the smoking area has moved since the last time I visited the Wilderness Lodge. I'm sure it used to be next to the arcade near the bus stops.
The map (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_GB/guest-services/wilderness-lodge-resort/map/) shows smoking areas outside the Boulder Ridge villas entrance and at the Boat Rental area.

I would check again on the printed map you are given at check-in though!
Wilderness and AKL have some of the fewest areas. I had to consider this when booking with an in-law that smoked. BC it was!

I'm old enough to remember the days when smokers had free-reign, and the rest of us non-smokers were just expected to endure the exposure. I even have a distinct Disney memory of having a bad coughing spell while we waited in line at Epcot for an attraction because two women ahead of us were chain-smoking the entire time. I remember coming back from restaurants and bars stinking like an ashtray and having a sore throat from all the second hand smoke. I remember my eyes burning because of all the smoke on a train ride. I remember our non-smoking household reeking of stale cigarette smoke for days after my mom and dad would host a bridge party.

The world is a much better place now that the burden is on smokers to keep their noxious habit away from everyone else.

Living with someone or always being around 2nd hand smoke may possibly cause cancer over some extreme length of time, but walking past a smoker here and there is not going to cause it. If that were the case I would have had cancer 36 years ago as a smoker since then.

And I can get by a couple hours without smoking, but after that I'm really wanting one. And after eating is for sure a required one and same for when I first wake up. But it could have been dealt with in a better way with both limiting the locations and moving them to a better secluded area. Like 4 locations in each park N, S, E and W... close to the edge of the parks in little cul de sacs or something of that nature.

And of course my decision is going to ride on this new ban. Yes I'm a smoker and yes it's addictive, thus why I can't go but a couple hours before needing one. But that's also pushing myself to not smoke more frequent and feeling irritated inbetween. And looking at spending upwards of $15,000 for a 2 week stay and the find out I would be forced to walk all the way out of the parks each time I want a smoke? Heck yea I'm thinking of going someplace else. Why would I want to pay that much money and be frustrated with having to go out of the park, back through the entrance which will have long lines, each and every time I feel the need for a smoke? Not to mention the walk itself when I have disabilities. For MK I figure a walk to the front and then back could be upwards of 30 - 45 minutes with taking into account the distance + crowds. The "other" nearby non Disney parks still have DSA's.
Wow , that is sad that your whole life defends on smoking, so you don't care what the rest of your family wants or enjoys you base everything on a close place to smoke.

When I'm paying a 2 arms and 2 legs to stay there... hell yea. And not much to care family wise, it's just me and my daughter and she also smokes. And as I stated already, I completely understand people who don't like the smell. But I think removing the areas and forcing those who choose to smoke to have to walk completely out of the park is ludacris and just poor customer relations by doing so. They could have simple made just 1 or 2 sections somewhere evenly spaced within the park and off the beaten path so the smell won't carry out and bother anyone.

Nah, it is a beautiful thing.... Also since you seem confused, it is the second hand smoke that is number one. Of course, no one wants to smell like an ash tray.... This is simple stuff...

Apparently a trip to Greece might be great for you! And probably cheaper

I think you mean ludicrous. Ludacris is a rapper. Common error.

You can't smoke on the beach at the Jersey shore...

At the Jersey shore I do a lot boat rentals for crabbing and not a beach goer. I do the boardwalk at night and take you all but 30 seconds to find a side street ramp. As I said... it's not about the ban, so much as it about the distance you have to go and completely out of the park. A single place inside the park off the beaten path around the center of the park (not including Main St) would be a better option then leaving the park entirely.

I still say you must be getting ripped off at 15k for 2 people.
I think Disney is just following what is an eventual thing statewide...

The amount of insulting remarks and jabs through this thread are comical. So we have resorted to pointing out someone misspelling ludicrous? How about responding to the original posters question with relevant answers. SMH . FYI I’m a non smoker and shocked by the rudeness displayed. Feel free to pick apart my grammar or misspelling.

Your grammar and spelling are fine, as is your sense of righteous indignation. Your sense of humor may need a little work . . .

Lol. My sense of humor is just fine. You were being a smart*** with your post....
Actually, my posts (there were multiple ones on the same theme) were in joking reference to the fact that "Ludacris" "Common" and "Chance" are all the names of rappers. The joke was barely funny to begin with, much less so when having to come back and explain it. But thanks for your perspective.

At least I didn't have to resort to calling people names. What does the *** stand for again?
