Smelly Disney

Was it cinnamony? Then it's an industrial air freshener called "Fall Harvest," I go around spritzing the UoE preshow with it from time to time.

Manure comes and goes. It's mostly a sign of gardening work. They probably replanted to TTC.

Water rides can get ickey, it's a sudden algae bloom if the pH is off. Easily corrected but it usually takes a day.

As for smells at UoE, we have a cabinet full of Damp Earth and Sulfur but we don't use them anymore because people claimed it upset their asthma and such. We also don't use chemical fog anymore, only water based fog - thus on certain days when the humidity and temp are at certain points, the UoE is unable to form fog.

Soaring Over Ca in DL is one of the coolest rides because you can smell it. You fly over the orange groves and you smell them. You fly over the mountains and smell pine. You soar over the coast ans smell the salt water. That extra sense really adds a great touch to the ride that I've never experienced before. Viva Disney!

I absolutely loved the orange smell in horizons! JII also had a smell like roses or something so sweet in the room right after dreamfinders mural painting. I smell that smell every so often and it's like BOOM, I'm back on JII. :)

I know it's not a ride, but I love the fresh baked cookie smell that is on Main Street in MK. I remember seeing on that show Inside Out that it wasn't really that there were cookies everywhere, but that they actually pump the smell onto the street to make you hungry or something. :slurp:

I never thought about it until you mentioned it, but yes. I love the monorail smell. It reminds me of one of the first times I visited the MAgic Kingdom and we rode back to the TTC from teh park at the end of the night... at about midnight-ish. Great smell, great memory. I also remember, I was scared because my dad told me the ghosts in HM were going to follow us to our hotel.

The monorail has two distinct smells... the musty A/C smell... and then a lot of the cars smell like manure.

In Sept, 01 the monorails smelled like manure. It was horrible!! Do they still smell like that? I started a thread on that topic (maybe on another forum) and someone said it was disinfectant but personally I'd rather have the bacteria.

Mgmt claims that it is the "Carpet Glue"... bur *shrug* I'm no glue expert, but I've never smelled glue that smells like manure before.

Yes! Especially the big ones. Dinosaur, Test Track, Tower of Terror, etc. The water rides, like El Rio Di Tiempo, have that smell that must come from the water? The one smell I dont like is the water at Splash Mt. I am glad you dont get very wet on this one!

I have never gotten real wet on Splash Mountain. But one time we were ont Pirates & got totally drinched!!! (the boat in front of us had, how do i put this nicely, large adults in it. not a single kid) and when we got to that lil drop, we got drinched! it was terrible to walk off Pirates & be wetter than coming from Splash.

As for smelly disney...I agree. There are certain smells for each place. I guess my favorite "smelly" part of Disney is, waiting for the 3:00 parade on the corner close to the barber shop. Right by the Emporium. I love the smell of it! Kind of weird, but when it's mixed with the nice cool air from the air conditioning, it's real nice!! :D

I like the smell inside the Disney buses. Not the fumes, just the bus itself. I also enjoy the smell inside Tower of Terror, it has a distinctive I-don't-know-what kind of smell. And as much as I dislike the foul, stale stench of B.O. that seems to pervade the monorail, it's still enough to give me good memories of my trip because it calls to mind where I was the last time I smelled it.

I love all the smells of disney good and bad because it reminds me of disney and the fun I've had! I especially like spaceship earth and Pirates of the carribean! They have a distinct smell but it goes with the ride.

You should smell the busses just after they've been processed. (cleaned)... I had to shuttle a clean bus back over to the TTC one night, and it smelled quite nice, just like oranges!

For YEARS, my mother has talked about the way the lobby at the Poly smells. I haven't stayed there in about 15 years (oh. my. gawd. How old am I!!?!) but whenever I walk through that lobby, I have no choice but to pause for a moment and just smell... I probably look like an idiot, but it's such a huge part of my childhood and Disney memories...

Also, the Christmas parade usually features a float with Chip and Dale baking cookies, and the whole thing gives off a gingerbread smell, which my dad loves...

(Can you tell how endlessly fascinating my job is for my parents? :) )

Not to mention a real bargain

Heh...

Actually, I don't know how true that is...before I worked at WDW, we had visited about once every five years...in the 2ish years I've lived here full time, they've been here six times... So, while they do benefit from some of my discounts (and my mom is a Property Control FIEND, let me tell you), I can't say that they're actualy SAVING money....

Oh, and as far as this thread (as I have a habit of wandering off topic)...uhhh...the smell of Voban, anywhere, makes me physically shudder...For me, it's probably worse than the smell of what it's meant to cover (too much time spent in close contact, I guess...)
