Small World Refurb in August

Except that I see this as our only vacation to WDW with 5 small children. Shouldn't MY vacation be free of IASW refurbishment?:animwink: This is such a critical must-see for us.

Well I'm sure that if you call up Robert Iger and explain your predicament to him, he'll put in a good word for you and they'll postpone the refurb till after your trip. :animwink:

Now, for the actual refurb...other than the more efficient loading and unloading, I heard that they're overhauling the track system because, as the average person has steadily become more overweight over the years, the boats have been bottoming out. No, this is not a joke, and I could be wrong, but this is what I heard and it makes sense. Back in the late 60s, people weighed less and Disney probably didn't think of that contingency.

Never thought of that, but it does seem likely. IASW seems dirty as well and needs a good cleaning inside.

I understand they need to do what they need to do.....but i am disappointed.

I rode IASW multiple times every trip since i was a kid.
Every time brings back memory's of riding with my mom and dad.
Last year, we rode it many times with my 3 girls (their first time at WDW) and have fond memory's of those rides.

It will be missed during our Aug. Trip.

I'm still hoping for It's a Small World Holiday to make its WDW debut this year.

With all the Fantasyland construction going, this would be a great way to give guests an incentive to continue visiting the MK while the work is being done.

On that same token, bringing back the Country Bear Xmas show for the coming holiday seasons would also be a great way to keep the numbers up at the MK in spite of the construction and work going on.

Hi everyone, just came back from the MK where the philharmagic store has some new Small World merch. I had not seen it a few weeks ago. Anyway the merch shows the new disney character dolls at the top, with the original dolls at the bottom. Since they are selling these various mugs and magnets etc here, this could be a sign they are going to add the characters in the upcoming refurb afterall. Otherwise I dont think they would be selling the merch? I know Imagineering said the characters are not being added, but I wonder if they just said that to keep mouths closed about it. If the merch is any telling sign Id say word is out.

Don't count on it. It's prob the merch they created for DL and Disney is just stretching their dollar by selling it in WDW as well. Why spend extra money to develop logos and designs that are exclusive to one coast when you can design one and save money? It's no different than Disney using DL footage to advertise WDW.

That happened at DL, not WDW.

Would also be nice if they did something with that big black empty wall along the left as you enter the first room. I realize your suppose to look towards the right but still its very noticeable and kinda dirty ugly. Reminds me too much of spaceship earth.
