Small Pyro Additions to DHS Fantasmic

I'm not sure if these are just a test or if it is here to stay, but there have been three (3) small, yet notable additions to Fantasmic at the Studios this week. These changes have played at both shows on Tuesday & Thursday so far.

1) When Mickey draws his sword to take control of his dream and defeat Maleficent, the sword is a little different, almost looks thicker. The sword shoots off the normal glittery spray of sparks, but then a small red flare shoots out toward center stage making more of an actual shot towards Maleficent.

2) When Mickey is standing on top of the mountain in the finale, there are red flare fireworks shooting continuously behind him for a few moments. These plain red flare fireworks have been upgraded to red flares with a glittery tail.

3) On the final musical note of the entire show, when all the lights on the stage go off, there is a sudden and very bright burst of white fireworks that shoot off from the edges of the stage. I must emphasize how FAST these last and how BRIGHT they are, literally lasting about 1 second.

Again, I'm not sure if these are new or just returning from the past, but its nice to see the improvements.

Sounds like an attempt to make the pyro match the sister show in Disneyland, as what you described sounds very similar to that show after it's rehab and upgrade to the Murphy dragon.

Progress is progress, sounds good!

Yep :) A small correction on the dates though - the reworked finale with the final pyro blast was added to DL's show in '08; Murphy joined the show the following year (in '09.)

I love that final explosion, it's good to know it finally made its way to the DHS show.

The finale flash has been there since it opened.

The flare from the sword has been there for at least 1 year.

Did they add back in the pyro during sorcerer mickey water screens?

Glad to hear the show is getting some upgrades. Last time I went, I was sorely dissappointed in the show, especially the finale. These small improvements seem to make a huge difference in the videos I've seen online.

Still a lot of work needed for the DHS Fantasmic show, but at least they are paying some attention to it.

These small upgrades and changes would seem to disprove the rumors from earlier this summer about Fantasmic going away at DHS. Right?

Indeed, the very end pyro flashes are a welcome new addition from Anahiem.

Shame the red comets / pyro either side of the mountain wern`t swapped for the syncd-to-music vertical launchers of the DL version. But it`s a good plus and at least someone is giving F! the TLC it needs.

Now, are the comets pyro back during Sorcerer or not?? Or are they extra wind sensitive nowerdays?

And let`s not mention the non-flamethrowing flamethrower. Or Mickeys dragon-slaying podium (I know, the latter never worked but it`s such a neat idea....)

The comets in the opening scene? Judging by this recent video, they're still missing -

The new lights behind Mickey I think were made to make the visibility of Mickey easier, comparing the video of these new fireworks with the older ones I noticed that you could actually see Mickey now.

That video was taken in June, way before the finale was updated. Though I'm pretty sure the comets haven't returned.

Anyways, finally the show gets some TLC.. The new pyro in the finale & the red flare in the dragon scene really give it a new look. And that mine blast at the end = AMAZING. Looking forward to more videos..

We saw it at the very end of June and the comets were missing. I don't remember there being any wind at all, I just remember being disgustingly hot. It's been a while since I've seen the comets which is a shame because they really add a lot to that sequence.

Glad to see some updates which should silence those who claim this show will be leaving soon. I'm just sorry I just missed these and won't see them on my next trip in November since F! isn't shown the night we're there. :fork:
