Regardless, burning fiberglass gives off toxic fumes, so it'd be important to get guests well clear of any burning castle parts...

To my understanding, the compressed air launch has not been done for many years in WDW, but last I knew it was still used in DL. Even then, it was limited to Illuminations. Disney are the ones who developed the technology, but it was costly and was not without problems.They do use air launch shells. However, most of them are conventional black powder. So both of you are correct.
