Slinky dog

I just wondered if it was worth trying to get a few passwords for slinky dog. I have one already....

I misread your topic heading.
All that I quickly read was
"Slinky Dog" and "crickets"
And here I was ready to add to a thread which I thought was about how bad Slinky Dog is.
About all I can say is it is better than Primeval Whirl.. ..not by too much but way inferior to a 7 Dwarfs

Definitely worth a FP+ IMO. If you don’t plan on getting to HS when it opens (7am currently for EMHs) you MUST do a FP. We just returned from our trip and the standby line never got below 75 minutes after about 8:30am. It’s not the fastest loading of rides as there can really only be one car on the track at a time.
If you have never been on Slinky Dog and have ridden all the other rides at HS, except, I would assume, Saucer Spin, I would definitely take a fast pass for Slinky Dog. This way you can make your own determination as to whether or not the ride is worth it.
The only other ride you could score in its place would be TSM. All other rides are in the second tier. Unless you want Star Tours over trying this attraction. I would hope that the other two fast passes would be RnRC and TTOT.
Saucer Spin is an attraction I would wait in line for if the lines were a half hour or less.

This is a very subjective question, but I think it's a yes. It's a fun ride that's pretty well done. I could pick it apart for sure, but I took some out of town guests and the kids LOVED it. It is a little weak compared to some of the other options in other parks, but it's great for kids. I also let them talk me into Saucer Spin...it was worse than the first time I did it. If I ever do it again, it will be too soon. That being said, the same kids also enjoyed that. Funny thing is, TSM is probably the best attraction in that land, and it's the one that was already there...

It’s worth it if you simply want to be able to say that you rode it. The ride is otherwise garbage. If the very same ride was at a six flags or another park like that, it would collect dust (if dust can be collected outdoors, lol).

It's new, it's a ride youve never done, if you can get a FP+ its worth doing. It's not a spectacular or overly thrilling ride but after youve ridden it, you can decide it's worth to you.
The hype both 7DMT & Slinky got was tremendous and both ended up short on delivering.

Thanks for all the replies... I have a fast pass for slinky dog & 1 for alien saucers & 1 for TSM.... So Imguess I'm all set for now... Going in October....can't wait to go!!!!!

The thing with 7DMT is that although it is on a track like a coaster it is something different as it is also a dark ride. Try finding one of those someplace else. So really except for the few drops in either that is the only basis of comparison. I think that based on that 7DMT delivered completely and was exactly what they said it would be and much more. That might explain the still long lines. I don't recall them promoting Slinky as anything other then what it is. How could they? It has been in direct view since the first footing was put in. If you can see you know what it is and I don't remember anything that contradicted that fact.
So, it didn't deliver on what some thought it should be, not what they said it was. Wishful thinking is hard to deliver on.

Yes, it's worth FastPassing simply due to the long wait. Remember, after you've done your 3 FPs for the day, you'll be able to get more FPs

I have read quite a few times now that the wait times are a lot less, by 15-25 minutes, than what is posted on the app. So I would say if you see it with a 45-min wait, go for it!
Also worth noting, from all the reviews I have read and videos I have seen, it's a much better experience at dusk or at night.

If this is true, Disney must be doing it to make the attraction seem more popular than it really is.

That is very possible. I have read on here and also have seen/heard on many vlogger videos that the wait times for Slinky are definitely bloated and not as long as the wait times being posted by Disney on the app. But they do it for a lot of other attractions as well. At DW and at DL as well. They are notorious for doing it the last 30 min or so before a park closes to detour people from getting in a line at the very last minute. Space Mountain in Anaheim is known to do this nightly and I witness them intentionally making the line longer and holding people on Peter Pan at DL right before park closing as well.

I guess there is one way to figure it out.... Get in the line, look at your watch, when you get to the ride, look at your watch again. Mentally record how long it took. Apps. are only as current as they are reported. It seem silly to me to rely on those electronic eyes when the only real answer is what we see and experience. If they want to keep people away all they have to do is put a bigger number for those that aren't star struck and think that longer lines mean a better experience. For them I have no sympathy. Think and observe for yourself. Even the signs at the attractions themselves are not always updated quickly. I once queued up in a popular attraction that had a standby time of 75 minutes posted, I was leaving the next day so I decided to bite the bullet and get in line. As I turned the corner I saw no one in the line. Since it was one of the attractions that had a very long inside queue I just walked in without giving it a thought. I kept walking and never stopped until I was on the ride. It was about 15 minutes from the time I entered the queue until I cleared the exit. Another time, this time on Soarin, it had a 20 minute wait posted. An hour and 20 minutes later I got to the ride. Apps are closer to what they expect then what is happening in reality and very dependent on the reporting system that they use and the dependability of those assigned with the task of keying in that information.

We rode it twice on our recent trip. We had a 45-50 minute wait during EMH and then an afternoon fastpass. Considering your other tiered options, I think it’s worth it. We had FP at DHS for RnRC, ToT, and SD. We were able to do Toy Story Mania and Aliens twice.
To us, there were no other options at that tier.
