Apps are closer to what they expect then what is happening in reality and very dependent on the reporting system that they use and the dependability of those assigned with the task of keying in that information.

I feel the wait times typically reported are hindsight, they tell us what was and not what is. Touring Plans use an algorithm, and use to be pretty spot on. Last year though, both in September and November/December they were off much of the time. I will see how they do this year. WDW reported wait times seem to be off more of the time, even years ago.

Another time, this time on Soarin, it had a 20 minute wait posted. An hour and 20 minutes later I got to the ride.

One possible explanation:
When you entered the queue the wait was indeed 20 minutes(or very near that number)just as the posted time showed but once in line one or two of the concourses went down, completely disrupting the expected wait time....aren't there 3 screens: an A, B and C???

At the time Soarin only had two theaters which is why I was surprised to see a 20 minute wait, and both were operating. The problem is that those queue lines in Soarin are as wide as a two lane highway. Many, many people can get bunched up in those areas and the meek are usually pushed aside by the less considerate. I'm far from meek, but, I'm not rude either and I hadn't bothered to memorize everyone that was in front of me or in back of me upon entering.

I thought slinky dog was awesome. And I would say on par with space mountain in terms of intensity. It was just a cool ride.

I have my FPs all set for our trip. I have one for SD. After reading this I may be questioning my choice. For me (please note this is for me), I would not waste a FP on 7DMT. Just not that good FOR ME. So after reading the comments here maybe I should try for a rope drop ride and use my FP somewhere else. What do you think?

It’s worth it if you simply want to be able to say that you rode it. The ride is otherwise garbage. If the very same ride was at a six flags or another park like that, it would collect dust (if dust can be collected outdoors, lol).
When I first saw the ride I thought it was more typical of a six flags ride. I understand the back story but it just doesn't seem to be up to WDW standards. I feel the same way about PW. Now what I have seen some
of SW land is what I think is the norm for WDW.

Here now, rode it last night without FP, about 65 minute standby wait which wasn't too bad. I was pleasantly surprised, not a bad ride; really smooth.
