Sky liner, great idea but ...

Great idea but kinda an eye sore??
What do you think?

From the Studios parking lot, you can now see across I-4 to the Gaylord Palms area because of all the trees cut down to make a path for the skyliner. All those large hotels are clearly visible through what was once a natural "curtain" shutting out the real world

You see all kinds of crap from the buses as well. You can see the parking lot from MK. And if you can see the details of the Gaylord Palms from the middle of Disney property from a moving Gondola then you must have the eyes of an eagle. It is transportation, not part of Fantasyland. Let it go.

Oh yeah, socialism is really booming in America lol. Has anyone ever said Disney should be free?

I mean, you kind of see this already. In 49 states people pay crazy amounts and mortgage their house to go to WDW. If you live in Florida, you pay next to nothing for an AP to go all year... and the deep discount is mostly for WDW to buy political sway.

We have a different definition of what next to nothing is. Go watch the Florida Project, yeah the poor of Florida are just flooding WDW.

You must be an absolute JOY to be around. If you don't like my post, move on...or as you so jerkily put it, let it go.

Sooo... to change the subject slightly... just wondering, are these gondolas going to be climate controlled or not? Even in the winter, on a sunny day, the combination of the greenhouse effect and sitting in an enclosed space with 5 other people who have just built up their body heat skiing down a mountain can make the interior of a ski gondola rather warm. Now, combine the Florida sun and the... um, increasingly large body habitus of the average Disney World guest, and I can easily imagine the interior of these things quickly becoming sweltering. Any word/rumors on how Disney plans to keep these things from becoming mini Sky-saunas?

I am a joy to be around because I don't whine about minor, unimportant, unrealistic things. I pay attention to where I am, not where I'm am not and I am not afraid of change. I'm a absolute day brightener to everyone around me.

It’s a great idea, but they’ll never complete the system by extending it to all the parks and all the moderate resorts & value resorts...so it’ll become another monorail situation where transportation in this form is limited and not accessible to large chunks of on-property guests.

They’ll still be running buses for decades to come bc suddenly one day it will be too expensive to build more stations and purchase the extra gondola cars and pay operators.

Crazy how the company could afford to build monorail lines in the fledgling ‘70s, but now with record profits, it’s too expensive to do so.

Really? Once again, using the ski gondola in winter analogy, it can still get warm inside even with the windows open. I'll give Disney the benefit of the doubt that they've fully tested the temperature... but having ridden plenty of ski gondolas in my day, I can't help but wonder.

Very understandable to me. While the monorails weren't built with the park, they probably designed the space with the intention of putting the monorail in. They didn't plan the expansions that came decades later. So much of the cost would be tearing apart existing infrastructure to make way for a monorail. And really, the monorail is no picnic. Buses are a fine option more or less. Truth be told, I'd take a bus from the back of the MK parking lost to the MK gate if it was offered, so I didn't have to walk to the tram stop, wait for the tram, take the tram, walk to the monorail, wait for the monorail, take the monorail, and walk in the gate. The monorail really only benefits people who live in the super expensive hotels next to MK that are actually on a stop.

Is there a reason, other than money they never expanded it to the WL?
