(As of now) They look more like mannequins stuffed in a driver's seat than actual AAs. Remember... the A in AA stands for 'Audio'. If the riders aren't directly looking at these things, there's little reason to put $$$ into making them talk and all that operational. IMO, they're in the seats because otherwise it would be strange to have a vehicle like that with no physical driver.
The "Audio" part of the name "Audio Animatronic" has nothing to do with whether the figure makes noise or not. It is because the first trigger-able animatronics used audio blips recorded to magnetic tape as a means to trigger the movements.

I stand corrected! To your point then, the term would actually be severely outdated though. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong (i KNOW you will :p)- but aren't we supposed to be experiencing the actual ride and not stressing out over whether the animatronic dude is "real" enough???:cool:

I had no idea....so a tape would run and at certain points tell the AA what to do what happens when you need to rewind?
Tapes don't always have to be rewound. They can also loop.

The driver is part of the ride experience...

You're wrong. I'm a universal lover and prefer it WAY over Disney for the time being. But that doesn't mean you neglect major details such as that. If their arms don't move its the equivalent of riding star tours and have c3po completely stationary. Does it ruin the ride? Of course not. Is it sloppy and lazy? Yes.
but we have no idea if that's actually the case right?

As you can see I changed the title of this thread rather than making a separate one. Reason being the only real news to come out now will be the start of soft openings so I'd rather just keep everything in one place. If you need to know how to use the spoiler tag just ask. Only 2 weeks to go for my trip :D
