The "Audio" part of the name "Audio Animatronic" has nothing to do with whether the figure makes noise or not. It is because the first trigger-able animatronics used audio blips recorded to magnetic tape as a means to trigger the movements.(As of now) They look more like mannequins stuffed in a driver's seat than actual AAs. Remember... the A in AA stands for 'Audio'. If the riders aren't directly looking at these things, there's little reason to put $$$ into making them talk and all that operational. IMO, they're in the seats because otherwise it would be strange to have a vehicle like that with no physical driver.
