The good thing is that if Kong scares Princess Snowflake, they can relax at a M&G next door.

I finally got a chance to see a vehicle test in action! And caught it on video too. I also got video of the food stand almost ready for guests. My guess is most of the construction walls will come down and the stands will open long before the ride actually does. And I saw crew hanging hair-like things on stakes and painting/weather-proofing the bamboo that had been covered in plastic near the entrance for so long. Check out the video and a few screenshots below and lots more here.

The media preview is June 22-24 I believe, so the official grand opening won't be until then. I expect "technical rehearsals" to start a few weeks prior, but most folks are convinced they'll start in the beginning of May.

Oh what!! i was expecting to ride it within my 3 weeks 23rd May - 13th June

it looks so nearly finished :(

im a newb to this terminology. what exactly is a soft opening?
Also known by team members as a "Technical Rehearsal", soft openings are where the employees and the ride tech itself are tested with real guests in the park to get it running smoothly before the ride is officially open. Soft opens usually happen anywhere from a few weeks to even a couple months up until actual grand opening for a new attraction, and are meant to work out all the kinks. You're never guaranteed that the attraction will be open during soft opens and once open it can close at any time, since they're still getting used to everything and still testing. Universal will tell you that not all effects and features may be active during softs, but usually most, if not all, are, unless they're having issues that day.

During softs I will go to the attraction first thing in the morning, and if it's not already running, ask the staff out front if and when they think they might be up for the day. Then I would check back often to try and be first in line when they do open. They might not be running all ride vehicles during a soft open as well, so lines might move slow. Especially since staff and everyone is still finding their groove.

Hope that info helps. That's just what I have found in my experience.
