Skull Island: Reign of Kong from construction to opening

Mine train was a huge disappointment.

The beaut and beast ride in Tokyo is trackless once again but the us Disney parks don't want to shell out the cash to make it. It's sad that you have to go to Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong to ride the trackless rides.

You'll get one in 2019 in WDW. DL technically got one this year, but its actual dark ride LPS is coming 2018, and likely another in 2020.

They seem to want to play up the characters more which I don't know if the Potter fans really love that or if they would want a better ride minus all the characters. Anyone know what the Potter fans say about this ride, the ones wearing robes and all that?

I'm a Potter fan with a robe and all and I didn't like what they did with Gringotts. Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson weren't even involved in the ride, so I honestly didn't even care about Harry and Hermione. :/ I would have much preferred something more like the way the bank vaults looked in the film. I remember the first time I saw the movie and thinking that would make a GREAT coaster.

Went on Kong, which was running at very low capacity. It seemed like they were having issues with things running smoothly. The queue is actually well done and can be frightening. There is one part where these dark cut outs have people scaring you. I didn't notice if they were AA or actual actors. The ride has some cool moments despite being mostly more of the same screen technology seen in everything Uni does. The ride itself seems like it gets good then ends abruptly. It could have used one or two more scenes before the big AA, then maybe one last scene after to tie it all up. The AA of Kong though is incredible.

I was able to ride Kong yesterday. I enjoyed it. Well themed ride and had a storyline that flowed well from start to finish.

Now the rest of Universal, I would have been better off to just have paid someone a hundred bucks to beat me with a 2x4. I guess that is a discussion for another time.

Even Harry Potter? Spider-Man? Mummy? MIB? There are some great rides there.

I didn't want to high jack the thread, soI will be brief. Kong, the Potter rides, Mummy and MIB were quality rides. The rest were not my cup of tea. I just don't like to be beat to death watching a big screen

Alright so I just went to Universal yesterday and did get to ride Kong twice. I'm having major mixed feelings for this ride but I'm gonna leave a few notes that I had for the ride.

The queue is 10/10. The theme and story flow for the queue is quite good. I loved the middle section with the witch and chanting. It really heightened the intensity.(which is the kind of vibe I wish the rest of the ride had). The AA slug thing was awesome and the scare actor was fantastic (wish there were more though).

The attraction itself the first time I went through, I was in the first row. It was fun at first going up to the wall but I felt like I couldn't see anything going on. The front window blocks so much view that it's hard to focus on the screens (especially during the bug pit scene.) the ride to me didn't didn't have enough motion when you were falling. In other attractions like spiderman, Gringotts, and transformers I felt like I was falling. That wasn't really the case for this ride so idk I have mixed feelings for it.(also side note that this is the fourth ride nkw where we fall and something catches us.....come on let's think of something different!)

The end AA Kong was beautiful. Would I have liked a more full scale AA with his hands and arms moving?! Absolutely. But this AA is great and by far the most impressive one to come from Universal.

Overall my critiques for attraction are
1. Bad view angles depending on side and row (do not go front row!)

2. Skull island flow is weird and doesn't make much sense (like going from qui ditch match to the chamber of secrets in forbidden journey. Still fun but doesn't quite make sense since we know the world well)

3. Too much going on that the focus isn't clear and poor ending.

4. Great queue and AA figures and a unique experience based on the size and number of people per car.

Overall the queue is 10/10 whil the attraction for me falls short at 6/10. So I would give the overall attraction a 7/10 because I feel the ride should be more of the impressive part vs the queue. Just my opinion on the ride but I wanted to share my thoughts now that I've been on it.

My guess is that in the 360 scene, the motion base wasn't working. They are having some problems with it. When it is working, the falling/swinging scene is by far the best iteration of that effect.

I've been on it twice in the last two days.

First time I was massively disappointed as you can really feel the potential that seems so wasted.

Second time, once I knew what to expect, well I enjoyed it more.

The queue, entry through the gates and the dinosaur battle section are all terrific.

Can't help but think this is Universal's Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Slight, but with some amazing moments. Gets the job done but there's tons more superior rides in the Uni parks.

I disagree. I thought the ride was great and the queue disappointing. The only real complaint is how short it is. Why does everything Universal builds have to some type of game-changing experience? Wasn't this really meant to absorb additional capacity and not be the next Forbidden Journey?

If all it was meant to do was absorb forbidden journey capacity then fine. I had higher expectations than that.

Once you go through those gates the ride is full of promise it only half delivers on in my opinion. We agree on it being too short. It shouldn't be. It actually feels like one or two scenes have been cut out of it. No idea if anyone can shed light on that feeling?

I liked the ride, and thought some of it was really impressive. It could have been amazing though. What we've got is a solid people eater. No more, no less.
I totally understand why some on here feel disappointed.

That T-Rex fight section is phenomenal though.
