So that is what they were doing at the top of the rock projections yesterday. They lifted a grate, played around and put it back. Must have been opening a valve or plugging in the igniter.

BTW, JT the plastic things will be themed once the verification of the ride path is complete.. Same as the ones above the doors on the walls.

Two projects don't really have anything to do with one another. The movie isn't even a Universal one anymore

That's not really the point I was trying not to make. It was in conjecture to the suggestion Universal was designing an attraction with no movie backing.

In reality it was an attraction designed purely from the foundations of Kong 360 (based on the Peter Jackson affair), while being greenlit to coincide with Skull Island (which when this was planned was a Uni 2016 pic) and being loose enough that it could be marketed to either. It's precisely those things mixed with the Kong nostalgia from USO that got this project greenlit over Jurassic Park and The Lorax.

Fortunately it's probably the best of the three options they had, but I bet they wish they had moved on Jurassic Park not having known the way that movie would go (Jurassic World's Box Office) as Legendary Pictures slipped away.

Doubt it. Everything new doesn't have express passes to my knowledge. Personally I don't think any new attraction should have express pass.
Transformers and Minions opened with EP. HRRR didn't, but now has it. I'm assuming the re-furbed Hulk will. HP stuff doesn't need it (the queues are incredible). The whole point of EP is wasted if everything new isn't included.

Robert Niles from Themepark insider says he has seen the blueprints for the ride, and unfortunately it is just the 3D Hollywood version - with the animatronic. I guess those were suggesting it was going to be different, longer, and bigger in scope were wrong.

Shame.

"Robert Niles

February 24, 2016 at 11:58 AM ·I've seen the blueprints for Kong. Inside the show building, it's a 360 3-D tunnel, followed by the animatronic scene, and that's it. There's a set-up scene outside, and a dramatic drive through the gates to enter the building, but the heart of the ride is the 360 3-D tunnel, as in Hollywood. Plussed-up footage, though.
I am worried that expectations for Kong are wildly exceeding what the ride will deliver. It will be a great attraction, but it's not going to be a 10-minute-plus, Pirates-style ride."

I really dont think Niles is accurately describing the ride here.

In a press release, (http://www.upi.com/Entertainment_Ne...sland-Reign-of-Kong-attraction/6271456590365/) Universal promises "A powerful storyline, a stunning 3D experience, innovative technology -- and the unexpected -- will pull you into one of Universal Orlando's most massive adventures yet. This is a multi-dimensional experience filled with surprise -- all wrapped into what will be one of the longest Universal ride experiences ever created" and explained how the ride will work: "Mysterious sounds pierce the air and you hear chanting. And then – you confront an enormous temple wall, complete with carvings and images that seem to pay homage to something you cannot quite comprehend. The temple's massive wooden doors slowly open, revealing a labyrinth of caves. Inside the caves, you meet your expedition leader -- and suddenly find yourself in the midst of a raging struggle between creatures of incomprehensible size and ferocity".

I don't think its possible that this ride will only be a single straight tunnel, nor do I believe that a ride described as one of the longest ever created will be a short uneventful snore-fest

It looks like there is a placeholder in the driver seat. Base for an animatronic?

I'm impressed by the sharp turn the vehicle makes once inside the building. I didn't think it could make that sharp of a turn. Looks like all the wheels adjust independently. Also is it just me, but does it look like the back of the truck raises when it makes the first turn from the station?

This is exciting. I just assumed it was going to be a straight line into the show building. Now things look much more interesting!
