Skip Mexico in Epcot

Not very Tex Mex at all IMO. It reminds me of MexiCali type Mexican food more than TexMex. It's good but just not what we eat normally. But honestly San Angel more than makes up for it with the theme. It's awesome there, and the tequila flights are excellent. I would recommend it to anyone.

Man now I want to be there.....115 days left till next trip. Not doing dinner in Mexico this time, Italy for us this time at Epcot :)

The table service restaurants don't focus on Tex-Mex for the dinner menus, but there is still some available to satisfy picky eaters. Lunch seems to be more Tex-Mex inspired, then they move more to other Mexican regions for the dinner items.

We have eaten in Mexico on a few occasions outside places like Cancun or Cozumel and I thought the food was very good. Just wondering which direction they went. While not Mexican food, we had a very good meal in San Ignacio, Belize a few years ago.

I heard a story on NPR the other day about the influence of Mexican cooks in different restaurants in the Houston area is having. They bring along their cultural influences when they cook Italian food for example. We have a Italian/Mexican blend in some Italian restaurants it seems. I guess around here it's hard to pin down what exactly is Mexican food and what is not :)

La Hacienda is much better IMHO Mr Troll. Mexico is a large country encompassing deserts, mountains, a large seacoast area as well as jungle.

Now start talking about TexMex you've got the Dallas Taco bell stuff, then the real food style like Joe T Garcias in Fort Worth. Chuy's is garbage.

Not a Chuys fan here either. We have a local place called La Cosona

http://lacasonafiesta.com

That is very good. They make a good margarita to boot.

A local favorite as well.

Heck it hard to not find a good Mexican restaurant around here.

We visited my son in Tampa Bay last year, could not find a Mexican restaurant for miles and miles, felt weird being form Texas.

Those margaritas don't even touch El Patios ;-)

I love that the "best" Mexican place is such a big deal in TX. We are HUGE fans of Lupe Tortillas

IMO, the Mexican Pavilion is, from a thematic and atmosphere perspective, the best pavilion at WS. The San Angel Inn is right up there with the Blue Bayou at DL with one of the best locations for a restaurant in any Disney park. Also, the food (again IMO) is really good. Is it overpriced? Yes. But that can be said for most food in WDW. Quality-wise it is very good and you do get decent-size portions. I do miss the Nachos de Pollo that they had when I was on my College Program in 2002. Best nachos I've ever had anywhere to this day.

Also, on my CP, I had a friend who was from Mexico City. She said that the San Angel Inn had the closest thing to authentic Mexican food she had ever had in the US. You're not going to get your traditional tex-mex (though you can get some things close to it) because that isn't really authentic Mexican food.

To each their own, I guess, but I love the pavilion!

Cool.

I do when talking about "real" Mexcian food it is worth saying there is no such thing. I am pro Tex Mex but I don't think it's "real" Mexican food. It is the same there as it is here, different parts of the country have different foods that are "real" American food depending where you are. I hear tell they even put beans in their chili up north  and call that real chili.

Overpriced items and food, food same as any Mexican place in US and given their penchant for bulls goring horses (yes, they really do this. Google "Mexico Horse and Bull fights") I wouldn't give them a dime!!!!
Other than Mexico, I'd skip dinner altogether and just eat a little at each of the worlds during Food and Wine festival. The food is very good. A little pricey for the portions, but you'll only do it once, so treat yourself.

I love the ambience inside. Never particularly loved the food. But haven't eaten inside in 10-20 years. Recently we ate at the inn on the water and loved it. Of course too expensive, but fun and yummy. May have to try inside again.
