From what i've been reading here, I think a lot of you are unhappy with the situation at DHS and even many are considering skipping it altogether.
AM i wrong?
Are there so many attractions currently undergoing renovations?

We are going the third week of February and kids love the Tower, hubby loves the Rock n Roll coaster FromDisneyand Paris... we've never been to WDW and might never go back as we are from Europe
Thanks!..

In the Parks
Yes
I can see where you'd get that impression very easily. Take into account that lots of us visit these parks quite frequently so its not like we'll never see it again, just maybe later in a few months. Disneyworld is different and on a scale that dwarfs any of the other parks on the planet. While roughly its the Florida equivalent of Walt Disney Studios Park, it contains very different attractions with minimal overlap with its French counterpart. I believe that Playhouse Disney! , Light Motors Action!, and the Tower of Terror are the only things they share in common. The layout of course and the same is very different of course due to climate, age and aesthetic .

The DHS Tower's ride system is different , the one in WDP matches the one in Disneyland in California and Tokyo. You'll enjoy it.

So whats closed in the current Studios ? A dining place that served mediocre pizza, beer and cupcakes (Pizza Planet), two character meet and greets, the Backlot tour (you can see it all on youtube , only Catastrophe Canyon was memorable), and the Legend of Jack Sparrow ( was not worth the time, only the air conditioning was enjoyable)

Whats open ?
Disney Junior - Live on Stage!
Muppet Vision 3D
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster
Beauty and the Beast
Star Tours
Fantasmic!
Tower of Terror
The Great Movie Ride
Toy Story Midway Mania
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Indiana Jones Stunt Show
Magic of Disney Animation
Lights, Motors, Action! Stunt Show
One Man's Dream

And lots of places to eat and shop.

If this is you once in a lifetime trip to WDW, then I would certainly go. Just remember it is a park in transition. Actually, not all that much is closed, as the park didn't have all that much to start with, but there will be obvious construction walls. You should still be able to have a great time. Be sure to see Fantasmic!
^^^^^ This if this is your maybe once in a lifetime. I'm cutting back my next trip but not cutting it out. Even in it's current state it's worth at least 1/2 a day if not more. With us hitting all the shows I can still see a whole day there maybe in 2 parts

We love DHS. On our last trip, we had the most fun at DHS vs the other 3 parks. I know part of that was because of the Osborne Lights and Holidays Happen Here dance party, but we still had a great time.

The buildings on Hollywood blvd are beautiful to take in and admire especially around Dusk. The street actors are fantastic to watch and really funny. One of our favorite WDW resturants is Sci-Fi Dine-In theater. They have the best burgers at WDW in my opinion.Tower of Terror, Rockin' Roller Coaster, Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, Fantasmic, Star Tours (multiple rides are a must) and The Great Movie Ride are all must-do's for us. Oh and you may get to visit Star Wars Launch Bay also!

I say definitely check it out! Here are a few pics taken just 2 weeks ago:

Totally agree with all the great things to do there. Would go for some half days mixed in during trip. Got to hit TOT and RR a few times.

We actually LOVE DHS! Some can't miss things for us-

Star Tours (more than once)
Great Movie Ride
TSMM and meet Buzz and Woody
Muppets 3D
Fantasmic
Rock n Roller
TofT
Sci Fi for a meal
Starring Rolls or Writers Stop for snack
Lights Motor Action stunt show
Indiana Jones show(we are huge fans of the movies)

We haven't done the beauty and the beast show, Star Wars launch bay or frozen sing a long but are checking them out next month for the first time. If this might be your only trip to WDW, I wouldn't skip it! Have fun!

DHS is still definitely worth time. Not all day, but I think it's a great idea to start your day there. If you're there during EMH or right when it opens you can hop on Toy Story, RnR and Tower within the first hour. I also think Fantasmic is a great nighttime show that shouldn't be missed.

i'll be skipping but i've been before and will be again. if this were a once in a lifetime (or once in a longtime) trip i would certainly be doing HS despite construction. it's past its prime but still worth the visit to see everything and some of the shows.

Go to DHS. You are going at a good time actually in terms of construction. I am mentioning this because the Indiana Jone stunt show and Lights, Motor, Action isn't going to be closed when you are going.

I usually don't tell people to skip DHS on this board unless the person states they only want to do 2 or 3 WDW theme parks, or wants to go to WDW for looking decorations for the 2016 Holiday season that starts November of 2016. The reason I the handle people that ask for advice for what 2 or 3 park not to go DHS actually depends on a multiple factors such as when the person the person is going, and who is in the party.

How I handle guests that are first timers or haven't went in a long that want to do all 4 parks is much different. The deal is DHS has some attractions are open in 2016 that wouldn't open ever again at sometime in the 2017 to 2020 time frame since they are future DHS construction spots.

When we go, our plan is to do DHS in the morning, and then take the boat to Epcot and the World Showcase. Last time my kids (1 and 5 at the time) loved being on the boat, as well as seeing the other resorts on the way. At Epcot we would walk the World Showcase, then head back to the hotel for naps.

If this is a potentially once-in-a-lifetime trip, then go to DHS. It will be in transition but the major attractions should be open. It is a shame, though, that you missed the last Osborne Lights.
