Sizing up WDW t-shirts

I would maybe do this shirt by shirt. I did buy one shirt at WOD and went a size up to compensate, well it never shrank. So it is huge on me, mainly wear it around the house. But all other shirts I have bought, shrunk like crazy. I was rather upset about it. But I guess I have learned for next time!

That's exactly what happened to me! Like I said in my original post, bought a TOT shirt on our first trip size XL and I never wear it because it is huge on me. So I start buying size L on the second and third trip only to find them creeping up my belly and skin tight! So I just wish Disney would come up with a new size that falls somewhere between their large and extra large for all us grown ups! :ROFLOL:

The retro shirts run a bit smaller in general to fit the "style", and will shrink like crazy if you wash with warm water or dry on high heat. It depends a lot on the material though, the thicker "standard" t-shirt material won't shrink as bad, and should be more prevalent elsewhere on property. Its just the thinner, softer material used in the retro shirts that really is susceptible to shrinking. Best to be safe and always wash with cold and dry on low.

Good to know, as it was the retro shirts I was thinking of buying next trip. Thanks! :)

i bought an organic t-shirt at disneyland back in july and i bought it in my normal size because it sold it as a pre-shrunk organic cotton shirt. Well, i guess their definition of pre-shrunk and mine are two different interpretations, because it shrunk upwards when i washed it at home. So now it still fits but i have to wear a cami under it if i wear it to work, especially if it's a shelving day, or else i show my mid section and get in trouble.

i have several wdw items that have failed the test of time. However, while i agree with the cheap quality of disney's overpriced t-shirts, i don't understand all of this washer/dryer/laundry talk. I just place my soiled clothing in the magic hamper, and within days they are returned to me, all clean and folded, by my loving wife. "thanks for getting these from the magic hamper" i say with a smile, as she says "whatever, loser" and walks away. I always enjoy the little catch phrases she uses to say " i love you honey".

oh how i miss the days of the magic hamper. I called mine mom.

I seem to be in the minority (maybe women's t shirts are different) but I find the shirts to be way too big. So big that I don't even buy them anymore. The fit of the women's t-shirts is so unflattering.

For the Unisex/Men's shirts, this is exactly what I was going to say. Both Love and his brother have to go up a size or two in the shirts and always when they're the thinner/retro ones.

That said....Eeyore is TOTALLY right for any woman's or supposed "fitted" woman's shirts. They're horrible. I can sometimes get away with the Jr's fitted ones (which I get as a medium since they're usually too narrow across the chest in small) but if it's a "misses" shirt, even a small is boxy and unflattering.

The only shirts these days I seem to get are ones purposefully oversized to wear around the house/sleeping. :(

I haven't had any issues with the shirts shrinking and all of my shirts since 2007 have held up extremely well.

However, I think they run very small to start. When my fiancee and I were there in December of last year, we went without my kids and I got them 3 shirts each (good xmas presents). My kids are 9 & 12 and are normal size (perhaps my 9 yr old is a little taller than normal).

I got adult smalls for my 12 yr old and 2 of them were WAY too small which made my 9 yr old happy cuz it gave him 5 shirts!!!! One was a ToT shirt and the other was from a gray WDW T-shirt from MouseGears so it's not like they came from one shop. The other was a RnR shirt from the ride's store and that adult small was fine  and the kids XLs I got for my 9 yr old were perfectly fine.

Thank goodness that a friend of mine who is a CM was nice enough to go to Epcot and DHS to get me bigger sizes to hook up my son....with adult LARGE!!!!!!

I am going to have to get a new one soon though because mine are enormous on me now due to a significant weight loss I've had since March.....small price to pay but I love my Epcot polo I got in December. :(
