Why is it that the sizes are all jacked up on Walt Disney World badged sweatshirts, t-shirts, and jackets. I mean, 15 years ago ... I was wearing an extra large down here. Now ... I have to wear a medium and even those are so blown out at the waistline its ridiculous.

I think who ever is in charge of the apparel needs to take a closer look at their products. I was going to buy a ducktales shirt the other day but everytime I tried one on the shirt length was too long and the sleeves were too short. It just didnt look right, this happens with alot of the t-shirts at disney.

Because it lets fat people think they are thinner than they are!

Its not just happening at Disney, it happens in most shops nowadays.

Agreed. Everyone's getting fat.

But I will say last year I got the "por favor" monorail tee in a small and it fit me properly. I'm a small guy and like my stuff fitted/slim (well, "tight" by general standards).

Stuff shrinks? Not long ago we bought this women's shirt at Disney in a medium, after a few washes, we gave it to our 7 year old niece, fits her well.
I agree the T shirts are too long though, I have been able to cut them down and rehem.

I'd like to see them stop making T's (especially the great graphics ones) with thin materials... one, they suck into your body so unless youre packing a 6 pack under that shirt its uncomfortable, two... they don't wash well.

I also have issues with the sizing of the fitted shirts. (I only wear the "unisex" style for sleeping, the rest of the time, I go for the "fitted" or "baby doll" tees.)

If it's a Jr's cut tee, often times it's tiny and way too small in the chest. Get it larger so it fits in the chest and the neckline is so low, you need another shirt under it. :brick:

If it's a Misses cut, then the small isn't small. It's so boxy, it makes you look super wide and forget getting a "fit" out of the supposed fitted style.

It's definitely a challenge finding a shirt that actually fits properly.

This was my thinking. Don't trust the way the tees fit when trying them on. Disney has found some of the worst quality stuff that shrinks dramatically after its washed/dried. If you buy something that fits beautifully you better wash it in cold water and lay it flat to dry or it'll be a 1-time-wear article.

I hear ya! I haven't been into the design-your-own store since just after they opened it at DtD because of the crappy cut of the ladies shirts. They were slightly more narrow than regular tees, definitely shorter, but still cut square thru the body. Fitted means cut like the shape of the female form.

I've also had quality issues in the past with stitching coming apart. I bought a tshirt on the way out of our resort headed home in May of 08. Got it home, washed it, and the sleeve had come totally unhemmed. I never even wore it. Needless to say, I'm a bit gun-shy plunking down $30 for tees hoping I can at least wear them once.

I have seen great strides in more in-fashion, now-type merch appearing. That's been pretty cool!

If you're a reasonably physically-fit adult male, look for the shirts with thinner material. Luckily, most of the shirts with good designs are now made with these shirts rather than the boxy materials that fade after one washing.

Actually try one before you groan that "the material is thin, the quality sucks!" The quality of these shirts is solid and they last. I don't know when thin became synonymous with poor quality, but that's simply not the case here. Materials can be thin and well-made.

I know what you mean and for me it's worse I have to wear the childrens sizes and sometimes the cloths just look plain silly on an adult woman! Not Fair, everything is Super Sized even the food...

This is a properly fitted shirt...

No collar stretched out, no shoulder seams hanging to mid bicep, no sleeves sagging open, no hem to the knees.

It's a shirt, not a nightgown.

are you still the same size as 15 years ago?
god knows im not :cry::cry:

I would totally disagree, I am 6'2" and about 280, and XXL Stuff barely fits me properly when it comes to t-shirts.

I agree. My weight hasn't changed in the past 20 years, but I have noticed that some shirts have gotten shorter... they still fit around me the same but aren't long enough to tuck in the way I like to tuck them in, I assumed they were just trying to save a few pennies off each shirt by making them a bit shorter than they used to.

I don't think you can make a blanket statement about sizes -- everything is different depending on the styling, the price, the quality, the shop....

Example: a XXL sweatshirt in one style at the World of Disney can be drastically different from a XXL of a different sweatshirt in the same shop...

Down at Wilderness Lodge, the XL Sweatshirt (with WL logo) is really a size Large, not even an XL...

Ordering through the Custom made shop at the Disney Store online will frequently net you sizes that are larger than the equivalent bought in a store...

You have to try everything on, and look at what it is made of. Cotton will shrink. Polyester won't shrink as much (but it sure will if there is cotton mixed in). ALmost everything sweatshirt wise at WDW is a 80/20 blend....those shrink.

But in general, the very first post is correct -- in general, sizes in America are larger now than they were a decade ago -- it started with the Gaps and the AE's that wanted to appease fatter american girls who actually need size XL but think they need a size L -- so they sized up to make them feel good to buy a L that is actually an XL..That quickly spread.

The exception is European-styled clothing, which sizes down...FOr example, American Apparel is always two sizes smaller than what other things are sized....an XXL t-shirt is actually a large according to standard sizing.

The lesson: try it on -- make sure it is large enough to accommodate shrinkage -- and don't buy the cheapest stuff you find...that 29.00 sweatshirt is 29.00 for a reason, when everything else is 49.00 and up.

I hear ya. However, unlike with this example, there are people you just don't want to see things that you wish were covered when they bend over. Myself included. :D
