Six Flags to have hearing over New Orleans Park

I want to apologize if I offended anyone with my post. I'm still just frustrated with the whole Katrina-thing. I read somewhere that where Six Flags is built is actually sinking 2" a year as well.
Try living here and having people still blame Katrina for why things still are not happening almost 4 years later.:brick:

I am the first one to admit that I am not a huge Louisiana fan..that is a reason I choose not to buy a house right now..I do not plan on staying here my whole life..

New Orleans though is a pretty fun place..and has a lot of great things to offer..food, music, history, people...

It does have a 50/50 reputation..you have the good..the party/mardi gras rep and then you have the bad..the crime and all that comes with that...

Oh..and we have The Saints..Drew Brees..:king:

You should come visit..it really is not that bad..;)

If you think you're frustrated imagine how we feel.

Building SixFlags in New Orleans East made a little sense because there was room to expand. The East is one of the few areas that has enough land to accommodate a potentially successful enterprise such as Six Flags. However, being where it is, it is subject to the tidal surges from storms such as Katrina. I've said this before---we were always told a catastrophic storm could hit New Orleans but noone could quite imagine the scope of one until now.
The specials were run for Six Flags due to low attendance. If you think the locals said they couldn't afford to leave for Katrina; the only way for them to get into Six Flags was this way. And they will spend their Six Flags money rather than save it in case we have to leave for a storm. Get the picture?:lookaroun
Then here's the other thing: New Orleans wants their high school kids and minorities to have first dibs on these types of jobs. These are individuals who would never pass a Disney interview. Who wants to visit a park where there is an 85% lack of professionalism?
Grant it there are some who are striving hard to better themselves but as a whole I'd prefer to deal with the Brazilian groups I've encountered at WDW.
I prefer to head to Blue Bayou in Baton Rouge----except on Sundays!

You also have *real* snoballs (SnoWizard was my grandfather's company), beignets, and Mandarin Chicken at Five Happiness!

Just some of the many things we miss now that we're in Houston.
Yes...we do..and Muffalettas, and hurricanes (the kind you drink), and shrimp poboys, and amazing seafood. King Cakes, Bunny Bread, Hubigs Pies..and so on and so on...:D

AMEN!

While it is not all.it is a very very good percentage of the population who really does not give a crap and feels that they are entitled to everything.

That is why I say it would never work as long as it keeps attracting locals and having locals work there..they do not care..and it is sad..:(

Two 'locals' came into my bar Saturday nite. After ID'ing them, one of the girls said, "Hey, how much u daiquiris is?" :brick: I replied, "Hey, 6.50" Then they proceeded to try to pay me in dimes and nickels when they realized they didn't have enough 'solid' cash.
