The park says this is to help focus resources during busier times of the operational season.

This was a very well done event. It never seemed slow with crowds, and many considering it one of the best times to visit the park. Also surprising this particular Six Flags would be chosen to axe the event considering it is located in southern U.S. with milder Nov - Dec than northern parts of the country= more comfortable to visit and be outdoors.

Staffing may be a big factor. (?)

Very disappointed to learn this news.
Dollywood does a great Christmastime event every year, but we always enjoyed SFOG during the holidays when we went.

I'm not surprised they are cancelling these events. Six Flags Over Georgia isn't the only one. Great Adventure cancelled it too. Even though it gets decent crowds, the problem is they aren't profitable enough. For these events to do well profit wise, they need to fill it with families that pay day tickets. The other problem is many guests go to see the lights, shows and rides but don't spend money on food or merch.

Michigan’s Adventure will no longer be open for the fall season to the shock and disappointment of many season pass holders.

Unfortunate for the people postponing their park days til later this year when cooler due to all the heat advisories around the country this summer.

So stopped by on our way home yesterday. Sundays early in the Halloween season are usually a less busy, but that was SHOCKINGLY empty. Steel Vengeance with a 20 minute wait, Milennium at 15, Maverick at 30. Legit lower than I have seen the entire season. I heard people saying it was equally empty Friday. I know the change to charging for the houses REALLY upset a lot of people, I wonder if it's showing up in attendance, or if it's just early on and it will be slammed like usual in 3-4 weeks.

I think it's just early. Saturday was crazy busy like it usually is in the fall. People are still going. The Conjuring house had a 2 hour waits on Saturday.

The company as a whole is having problems but some individual parks are still doing very well. Most of the former Cedar Fair parks are making a profit and still have good attendance.

It's the former Six Flags parks that are struggling with attendance and profit. It's really unfortunate cause they aren't as bad as many make them out to be.

So we went to Cedar Point Halloween this weekend. Didn't pay an upcharge for the haunts. The scare zones were pretty similar to previous years. They changed the shows, and while personally I didn't think they were as good, I appreciate that they were updated. BUT, the cuts are crazy. 1/3 of the roller coasters were not open (and have not opened at all during the Halloween season from what I have seen). Two of the three kids areas not open (not a big deal for us, but I'd be frustrated if I brought a 4 year old and they couldn't do a single peanuts thing). The entire row of games by Gatekeeper was not open. I've heard (though personally didn't see since I'm not a ride guy anymore) there were some rides where there were not people to put you into a row queue, so it's just a free for all on the platform. The kids had fun which is the important thing, but I'm truly shocked by how far they are falling so quickly. It was far from crowded, but when 6 of the 18 roller coasters aren't operating, the lines were just much worse than they should have been for most of the day (around 9ish the lines at the front of the park became walk ons).
