Six Decades of Disneyland

As you know, Disneyland is officially turning 60 tomorrow. In those 60 years, Disneyland has evolved in many ways, has seen ups and downs, has been through good years, and has been through sad ones. It is great to see Walt's park/Magic Kingdom still standing to this day, especially since many thought Walt Disney was crazy for building a theme park and thought it would fail. Disneyland has become a California and American icon. Let's hope and pray for future success, and celebrate 60 years of Disneyland!

First episode of Disneyland (can't find the whole episode):

Construction, hosted by Ed Hobleman, Walter Magnison, and Tony Baxter:

Great idea for a thread Raven!

But you forgot my absolute favorite anniversary special - the 25th Anniversary from 1980. This was a weird time for Disneyland as Disney was pouring all their money into EPCOT Center and the movie studios were a laughingstock and it was pre-Eisner so there was none of the splashy glamour that the 80's became known for. But they did have this hilarious celebrity TV special where Danny Kaye hosted and sang his famous "In Anaheim!" song. Plus a long list of B and C List celebrities from the late 1970's.

Truly hilarious TV watching!

Personal Note: I remember this late 1970's era well, and it has to be my least favorite part of the 20th century for hairstyles and fashion; some truly horrible examples of what Americans looked like in 1979-80 on display here. Luckily, things changed quickly around 1981-83 and the 80's look swept in fast.

Happy 60th birthday Disneyland! I can honestly say you have never looked better, or had a more promising future.

TP, I love the 25th celebration! Michael Jackson did a really cool (and a little cheesy) performance for the anniversary. I still watch it often, I loved his rendition of "When You Wish Upon a Star."

Who's planning to be at Disneyland tomorrow?

Which one had Jungle Charlie with Tony Danza on the Jungle Cruise? 35?

That was my fave
