Single Digit Anxiety!

I'm now 9 days away from flying out to WDW and the dry heaves have started! I've spent 2 years waiting for this trip and now it's practically here I have a constant feeling of panic!!!!

It's not about forgetting to pack something or if I've bought all the tickets, it's more an anticipation of my perfect holiday I think? I've had a major headache for 4 days and have also trapped a nerve in my neck which my doctor says is due to tension!!!

Does anyone else get in such a state? I keep telling myself I should be feeling happy and carefree but actually I would be happier if I had longer to wait then 9 days!!!! I've been so used to waiting to go that it seems overwhelming to ACTUALLY be going!

Mad or what!

Anxiety will do that (I get some myself), and in the end, it is almost never as traumatic as your idle brain can dream up; keep busy doing other things and in all likelihood, all will be just fine.

Pre vacation jitters are common. After months of anticipation and planning, the big moment is finally close at hand. The thoughts & emotions can be overwhelming. Just remember it's a vacation. You are going to have a wonderful time. Any possible issue the might occur is solvable and WDW has dealt with them all. You're in the hands of a professional organization. No need to worry or stress.

Make sure you make a photocopy of your tickets and put it in the suitcase so that if you forget them (or lose one in the parks), you can replace them. :). There. Now THAT worry can be put to rest.

And just stop the rest of it. I can almost promise you that something will go wrong. The flight will be delayed or it will rain or you'll over-extend yourself and end up sleeping in when you were supposed to go to a park. SOMETHING bad will probably happen. That's life.

You'll have a great vacation even if there are a few bumps.

And you'll have a better vacation if you just chill out and let yourself enjoy the anticipation and the event itself. :)

Have fun!

I usually get a little anxious before a trip. But I think it's caused by the long drive thats ahead. Will the car run okay, gas prices, did I remember to do everything, etc. Once we've been on the road a few hours it all seems to go away.
Well I think I'll start panicking if I'm on the road as I'll be getting there by a 9 hour pane journey! I know what you mean, I think once I'm on the plane I'll start to relax!

Thanks all, a bit of clarity is needed!

Yeah, I'm the same way. I get "all worked up" before a WDW trip. Mainly, its the final push of the planning stages, making sure we have everything we need, and with the kids starting school next week.......but it ends as soon as you touch down in Orlando. 24 more days for me!

I get the same way. My husband usually brings home a bottle of wine (or two) for me to calm me down. ;)

Its exciting! And yes, nerve racking! I understand completely the feeling that you don't want anything to go wrong - you just want to get there! The minute you are on the plane and it lands and you check in - all of those nerves will go away! I do special stretches/yoga moves, and a special breathing technique to help keep the jitters at bay! :) Good luck and stay calm! :)

Yes, you are mad! But have fun. You need to get pictures at your home pavilion just like regular tourists.

I am right there with you Di! Every year I go thru this about 4 to 5 days out, almost to the point of real doubt. Its like every shred of anticipation is gone and fear of the less-than-perfect vacation sets in. I usually feel this way all the way up to (and including) trying to go to sleep the night before we leave but I'm usually in a much better state of mind the morning we leave. If you are anything like me, by the time you are at the airport, you should be good to go and ready for that magical vacation you've been looking forward to (24/7) for the last 2 years! :)

Di, every one of us go through this. We all second guess ourselves, because each vacation is remembered for decades to come. Know, you are an awesome planner, and you made sure everyone's needs were met. Perfection is achieved in small doses.... it may be the perfect meal, the perfect sleep or the perfect day. Cast your fears aside, knowing all WILL go well and you and yours will have a wonderful vacation. Have fun!!!!! We're all there with you in spirit :)

VERY true, but each time, we all have a great time!!! Nothing beats hearing "Welcome to Orlando", and knowing you are about to embark on a fabulous trip!! Like I said to Di, we ALL go thru this and in some funny way, look forward to this feeling. When you wake up, that first morning at Disney, it's like Christmas morning when we were all kids. I wish they could put that feeling in a bottle. The here and now, happy to be here, and dang it this is all about a good time, feeling :)

You have got me down perfectly, I know once I hit the airport I will be fine, it's just the next 8 days of anticipation that's killing me!
