Signature dining, really?

If we do deluxe ddp next year I'm thinking of doing a few signature dining experiences. This brings me to my question - have you eaten at a SD place that you thought - SD, really? Either not worth it or the food wasn't up to par. :veryconfu

I've never had a bad experience at a Signature Dining venue. That said, I don't think any of them are a value-for-money option on the dining plans. Out-of-pocket with a TiW discount, they've all been worth it.

Two credits on the Dining Plan is an expensive meal. I personally would never use the DxDDP, but that's just my preference. If you prefer the convenience of pre-paying and can eat that much food, more power to you. I would gain 50 pounds eating two TS meals a day with appetizers and dessert for a week....

I never thought Artist Point was an SD restaurant just a personal observation.

Other than that I have had pleasant meals, food, service atmosphere in all the SD restaurants I have visited.

I've paid out of pocket for some signature restaurants, for 2 adults, and they have all easily been $130-$140 or more plus tip. Sometimes that included alcohol, most times not.

The DxDDP is $71.99 per person per night, giving you 3 credits per person per night. If 2 of the credits pay for the Signature meal, that still leaves 1 credit to be used for counter service - OR another Table Service meal.

IF I planned on eating a Signature meal each night, I could see that the DxDDP may possibly be worth it.

The DxDDP was definitely worth it when DH and I used it his past summer. We did signature dining almost every night and I think we saved money. The only one I did not enjoy as much as e others was Brown Derby... Other than that never had a complaint about it.

I think it's ridiculous they still classify the Brown Derby as a Signature Dining Experience. The food quality there has gone down immensely and it needs to lose that status (but it won't, because they'll want one restaurant in DHS to remain Signature, I'm sure).

I wouldn't eat there again as long as it costs two credits.

The Brown Derby quickly jumped to my mind as well.
I don't think it's a bad place, just not worth the price you'll pay (credits or cash).

Like most have said Brown Derby is a place that is on that razors edge between a great 1 credit restaurant or a poor 2 credit restaurant. I have never had a bad meal there but it is not worth 2 credits IMHO.

In regards to the deluxe dining plan....If you are planning an adults only trip centered around dining it is the way to go. If you do a 1 TS breakfast and a signature dinner or 3 TS meals per day you will make out quite well from a financial standpoint but the parks will come second on a trip like that.

We do the delux plan and find it a true value. We do latest 4 SD each trip and only do 2 meals a day. We tend to use the snack credits for breakfast. And it very nice to take all the TS credit per night and spread them out so you have a TS credits for every day and dont have to pay for any meals out of pocket. We always end with extra snacks and just use them to candy to bring to friends kids. Works very well for us!!!

Artist Point is slowly loosing its value...just lackluster experiences over the past few years. It used to be very good and we will not be back for a while.

As others have alluded to, with the DDP it is very tough to call something Signature, because you are stuck going from 1 credit to 2.

Are any really worth twice the amount? Well it depends what you are comparing them Compare the Brown Derby to SciFi Drive in and i think it is twice the value. Compare it to Le Celliar for example, and no, not twice the value (but a much nicer dining room). The problem is there is nothing like a 1.5 credit option. You are stuck with 1 or 2.

I still like Artist Point. the food has maybe lost some luster - maybe. But I still love the restaurant and staff. I'll be giving it another shot in August, and I'll see how it does then.
