I don't know if this is true or not, but i've heard they were selling the movie Shrek along with a 12 minute 3-D Flick of shrek(that comes along with 3-d glasses.), rumored to be the same one shown in Universal' shrek 4-D

does anyone know about this??

Why would one sell a video of a current attraction?

I say stupid move on Universal... hahahaha

this came from a really good source,(thats why I was surprised to hear that it was the same flick as the ride) it was from a movie "critic" on the radio. He is like the guy that has the inside scoop of the upcomming movies etc. He has his half hour segments on Tuesdays and thurdays.

i wonder if anyone else has heard anything similar...:veryconfu

I saw the advertisement on TV last night. They are offering a 3D DVD along with 4 pairs of 3D glasses with purchase of Shrek on DVD. If it is indeed the same film as the attraction I am not quite sure.

I saw this in Wal-Mart the other day looked at the back and it seems like the ride without all the motion and such or getting the real special effects that universal could offer....ya know:p

Apparently its very true. The new Shrek DVD has the entire video from Shrek 4D that can be played either in 3-D or I've heard also in normal 2-D. Each DVD comes with some 3D glasses too.

Well, Universal used an outside company (Dreamworks) to develop the whole premise and video of an attraction in an attempt to be more "hip" instead of creating something that actually belonged to them and apparently didn't make any type of agreement to keep it attraction-only based. Seems like Dreamworks only used Universal to help foot the bill to create nothing but a big marketing tool for Shrek 2. How sad for Universal to get shafted so badly. Can you imagine people not knowing of this and standing in hour+ lines to view an attraction they viewed in the comfort of their own homes? Sure, the actual attraction has the moving seats and other effects that might help quell the disgust from guests....but save your money...buy the DVD, sit in a recliner and have a friend throw water on you and shake your chair around at random, useless points of the film and you've got your only little Shrek 4D at home ;)

I don't think anyone has ever confused Universal with being intelligent, this is just another notch in a long line of bone head moves and ideas. Good work, Universal, how do you ever expect to keep your cherished 8th place in the theme park top ten?

The sad part is, if Disney ever released DVD of their ride/show movies I'd be all over them in a heart beat and still clamoring to go to WDW every year to ride/view them again.

I saw it for sale on amazon and it looks exactly like the movie at the park.

There has been a lot of talk that the movie that is played now at Universal is not permanent. It actually takes place after the first Shrek movie and before Shrek 2 so a lot of people say it doesn't make sense to show the movie after Shrek 2 comes out. So, they will probably show a different movie in the future. Maybe Shrek fans should buy the 15 minute DVD before the movie is gone forever.

i saw a commercial for it yesterday. i think its stupid for universal to release the movie of the ride #1 because its only 15 minutes long #2 because being able to see the movie at home takes away all the fun of the ride itslef. so i dont see y they are releasing the actual video. you dont see disney releasing philarmagic or muppets 4-d on video

I wanted to get this since I don't have any real urge to go to Universal any time soon, but would like to see it. However we already own Shreck, so I guess I need to hope someone I know buys it and I can borrow it.

I was wondering if it was the same one, thanks for brining this up.

I think this was a bad idea on Universal's part as well. With guests now able to see it at their own home (minus the effects and moving seats) I would suspect the lines, which are always very high, to take a hit. An even worse idea was to release it with the first Shrek DVD--something many people, such as myself, already own. Remember, at one point, Shrek was the best-selling DVD of all time as well. Even though I think it was a bad decision, I'll still buy the package, mainly because I thought Shrek 4D was pretty good (and this way I won't have to wait in those lines anymore).

As for Shrek 4D holding up.....I don't think it'll last another 2 years at USF. After Shrek 2 is released, there's not much need to see it anymore. And if they make Shrek 3.....forget it. I do hope Universal does the right thing and replace it in the next year or two.

What they should have done is to make the attraction right the first time through and not what seems to be becoming just an advertisement for the upcoming Shrek 2 movie. Come next Wednesday, Shrek 4D is an outdated attraction. Perhaps they will change the movie more frequently then I'm giving them credit for, afterall, everything is in place....it would just involve reprogramming the seats and effects....but for some reason I have serious doubts on that. For anyone who saw the new Terminator movie last year, T2:3D is now outdated in more ways than one and there is no indication of updating this anytime soon, so why expect it so quickly for an attraction that is barely a year old.

T2:3D is outdated but it is still great! ALl rides become outdated eventually but they are still enjoyable!

Yea, I know. I still fully enjoy T2:3D too even though its storyline doesn't even fit in with what the third Terminator portrayed (very minor issues that aren't even really worth debating) and obviously the characters used in the 3D show are apparently either dead (the kid's mother) or much older, as the 3rd movie showed. However, I think I would rather them not touch it at all at this point (I always fear change on something that is already really good).

My only point was that I don't expect Shrek 4D to get a new video anytime soon using the T2 show as an example. Unfortunately, Uni allowed Dreamworks the option to apparently release the attraction to everyone. Its just stupid....it makes the attraction no longer unique to the parks and decreases the value of that attraction. Couple that with the fact that now it seems like the attraction is subjected to nothing more than a "bonus" feature to sell more DVD's, while also serving as a simple advertisement for Shrek 2. Uni really got the shaft on this one....

Well, considering Dreamworks came up with the whole Shrek thing in the first place (ie: the first movie and the sequel that comes out next weekend), it would only make sense that they did the 3D movie animation as well.

I'm just sayin...

There are making a Shrek 3 I read that it's going to have to do with King Arther and the knights of the round table. Oh and about the 3D it's not going to be a good quality as the one in universal because it uses sterographic 3D glasses instead of polierised which are infinatly better
