Shouldn't Premium Passholders Should Get More Perks?

the problem here is that the perks get fewer every year. Disneyland has a much larger AP basis and a regular AP gets you a 10% discount of any purchase anywhere in the resort...be it, food, tours, merchandise, drinks. Not sure what the discount on a Premium Pass is.

WDW AP holders get discounts at SOME sit down restaurants during lunch time, and we used to get atleast one quick service restaurant per park but I don't think that's true anymore either.

And a 10% or 20% discount does make me spend much more money than if I had no discount. It's a pretty well established marketing sales tactic.

EXACTLY.

DL has much better discount perks than WDW, by far.

With the Premiere pass, I get as much as a 20% discount at most food and merch locations at DL. I haven't been to WDW with my Premiere pass yet, but the discounts are few and far between.

It's not out of line for someone with a knowledge of DL's discount and perks package to ask why we don't get similar at WDW.

Those chastizing the OP obviously aren't familiar with how DL handles it.

Though free entry to MNSSHP or MVMCP is a bit of a stretch.

I mean obviously there does need to be a certain level of perks for passholders to make buying the pass attractive in the first place. People aren't going to spring for something labeled premium if they don't feel they're getting more for that extra money.

very true. The object here isn't to make money off of these people on ticket sales so those of you saying that getting in for cheap should be enough don't understand the business model here.

The idea is that these people who buy these passes are going to be visiting our parks much more than the average guest which means more time in the parks and more meals, snacks, premium experiences, and merchandise purchased. Offer a discount/incentive on making these purchases and you will build a very loyal customer base. From experience, I buy big ticket souvenier items only when I have an AP because I know I can get 10% or 20% off on the souveniers over a regular guest. I also buy more of them. I do not buy these items from the merchandise locations who say they can't give me a discount or when I'm not an AP holder.

I would just like to state for the record that, in the end, I will have had nothing to do with this thread being locked or deleted. And now I must return to finding the perfect snacks for tonight's Red Sox-Yankees game.

Yep the restaurant discounts are not very extensive. Here is the current list http://www.wdwmagic.com/Other/Annual-Pass.htm

It's a total shame. I would have lunch there all the time if I even got a 10% discount at counter service. Instead, I tend to either eat before heading out there, or hold off until dinner. I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things, but thats a good $100 a month Disney doesn't see from us...

Hoping for another sweep in the Bronx!

If you think that she's paying less for a premium pass than you are for your one week stay, why aren't you buying a premium pass?

If your argument is true, then you are stupid.

You kiss your mother with that mouth? My understanding was that the passes are for those who go to the parks often. The last time I went was in 2004. I also thought that there was some type of residency restrictions. I may be misinformed, but I am not stupid.

I have to say I don't really get why people think they should get MORE perks than they already do. I have a membership at my local zoo. That gets me in as much as a want and a minor discount on some events. Thats it. Doesn't make me think I should be entitled to have front access to the gorilla enclosure.

Price goes up every year, revised list of benefits decreased every year. That's why we complain. Price goes up and perks stay constant is one thing...

But its also what they have done to regular tickets and packages. Even things like free dining, two years ago you could get the regular package at a value resort, now you will get a counter service one.

I will say this, and it is slightly off topic. They should consider giving a few more credits...I know I had several dollars credited on my last stay, and ended up spending way more just because the credit sorta got me rolling and into a spending mood.

I don't think anyone seriously thinks that we deserve "free" stuff. However, it only makes sense that WDW would want to give us more incentive to spend ADDITIONAL money in the parks. That is what is confusing about why they keep scaling back. It's a matter of discounting grossly inflated prices (on things like quick service dining and snacks) so they are affordable and justifiable to frequent guests. Believe me, Disney will still make a profit on the transaction.

Not off topic at all! This is exactly the same type of reaction that offering discounts to AP holders intices. A 10-20% discount on all purchases entices people to spend more than they normally would because it gives them the sense that they are getting more value for their dollar.

Like Chris said above me, it doesn't make sense why they stop these kinds of discounts.

People who spend more money, like for premium passes or staying at premium resorts, in my opinion deserve more for their money than people staying at the values, or moderates besides a better pool or closer access to the parks.

Jimmy Thick-Sorry, I did this topic over a year ago...
