My Finacee and I are planning our trip to Disney world with the free dinning. I want to book it this week as I know it will book up really fast. Since I am finally finished with college our dates are very flexiable. I was wondering when we should go. Last year we were there during the Hurricane :( at the end of August in 2008. This is why I am not sure if we should wait to go in September? However, after research some websites say that September is the peak hurricane month. I have been to Disney in August a few other times and never had a problem. I am so confused  and I don't want to make the wrong discussion. I know we can't perdict the future, but I just was hoping I could get some advice?? :sohappy:

P.S. I forgot to mention We are planning on going to Disney in December as well! That is why we were thinking more August. AHHHH lol

I have never been to the world at this time of year before, but are heading down the 22nd of Sept this year. I figured the later we went in September the better weather wise... What are your thoughts on that?

The only park that seems to be more crowded in late September is MK because of the amount of younger children. All others were very reasonable, especially EPCOT, which seemed empty.

We went during Labor Day week last year and it was perfect. I think there was light, sporadic rain 2 days we were there, but other than that it was great. Hot, but not sticky and unbearable.

It was crowded during Labor Day weekend (Sat-Mon), but the rest of the week it was a ghost-town. I couldn't believe the difference (the day after Labor Day is the start of the off-season, fyi). On Monday there was a 3 hour wait for Toy Story Mania, but by Tuesday it was only 30 min! It was so much easier going in the off-season because we didn't have to beat the crowds off with a stick to get on a ride or secure fastpasses. Those first 3 days we were there, if you didn't get a fastpass for TSM by 9 am, forget about riding it that day (unless you didn't mind a 3 hr wait)!

They put up all the fall decorations for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party that week as well, and MK looked adorable! :animwink:

Long story short, GO IN SEPTEMBER!!! :D

i'd also vote september, as the parks are somewhat quieter, however i would book asap as dinner reservations are already being taken until sept 20th and the best dinner venues get booked up very early. If you are looking for somewhere to have a romantic dinner i would suggest california grill, it will take 2 of you table service points on dining plan but has great food and if you get a time around the fireworks can be very romantic. (they pump the music for wishes throughout the room and on the balcony.)

With regards to hurricanes they are usually more likely in jul and aug, however hurricane season runs from June - Nov, and they can develop at any time in this period, and sometimes earlier or later.

So is the last week of August really that bad with crowds? I was thinking they wouldn't be because school would be back in.:confused::confused:

Not all schools are back in and you'll be running into Labor Day weekend which will draw more crowds. It won't be awful but after Labor Day is always better.

To the OP: I agree with everyone else: go in September. You can't plan for the weather but you have a better chance of it being slightly cooler, less crowds and it is fun to see MK decorated for MNSSHP. (If you go to that in early September it's very empty...I had a blast! Got everything done in MK, including attractions and special events for the party.)
