Should the parks keep longer hours?

Well, not entirely true... There was a breakup in there. Let me go get my old Times & Info and I'll get some dates for you...

Well I certainly think that during the June and July Months the hours should be:

MK 9-11
Epcot 9-10
MGM 9-10
AK 9-7

I really enjoy the parks at night and I think that you should be able to get a few hours of nighttime in there.

Hopefully when EE opens up they can keep Dinoland and EE open an extra hour or two. I'd LOVE to get to be in the AK at night and I'm sure the coaster will be nice at night too. I know that I like BTMR ALOT better at night.

And it really doesn't bother me too much that FW closes at 7....... as long as M:S and TT are still open. I'm sure when Soarin opens up they will keep it open that late too. Not too many people would normally be at the other pavilions that close to Illuminations.

No sorry. If we do that, stay open until 11 or midnight everynight, I quit. Honestly. I love my job, but if I have to there until 2 am everyday, I am moving on...

We do not NEED to stay open that late all the time, it is pointless. I understand people need time to enjoy themselves, but no one need 14-15 hours at a theme park. 6-8 hours is really all you need, that's all most people can last so even when we are open until 9, which is apparently early, we still can wait until 2 or 3 to arrive, which very reasonable.

I understand where you are coming from, but on an off season it is unreasonable to be open later than 9.

Edit: SO I realized you weren't saying we should be open until midnight so sorry, but for anyone who feels we should open until 11 or 12 each night the above post is for you :)

In Nov of 2001, FW opened daily at 10am, WS at noon. However, extended hours were used over Thanksgiving. The entire park was open until 9:30 that whole week. And that takes us to the hours today. :)

Yeah - I thought of that as well.

If not all the parks can be open late, what they should do is have the reverse of Early Entry Mornings, and have Extra Late Nights, sort of like Magic Kingdom's E-Ride nights, except change the park that is open late every night, and don't charge resort guests an extra $10 to get in.

I just read this on Screamscape:

"(4/2/04) We’ve heard that a new test program for resort guests called The Park After Dark would attempt to replace the Extra Magic Hour program for resort guests. In this case, instead of one of the parks opening an extra hour early for resort guests, one park may stay open up to three hours later for resort guests."

Sounds cool! -Stephanie

I mean who honestly wants to wake up early in the morning to go to the parks for Early Entry. My family can never make it there because we don't naturally get up early and my dad says that if we put the alarm clock on it like he's getting up for work. What kind of vacation is that, where you have to get up early on vacation? It's called sleep late and party late!!!

I always did Early Entry. It was so useful - we were able to complete the Fantasyland and Tomorrowland attractions (Alien Encounter, Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan, Pooh, Snow White that usually have TREMENDOUS lines during the day) by the time the park opened. Otherwise, we would have never been able to ride them without tremendous lines.

I'm intrigued about the late-night deal, but that means I'd have to sleep over the night of the MK. I usually get a night the evening before.

Many long years ago, (pre-children), my wife and I visited park in April and October. Hours were much shorter in October, MK was usually open no later than 7, Epcot till 9.
In April, of course, hours were longer. MK often open till 12, with Main Street open till 1 (late hot dog at Casey's) I seem to recall Epcot being open till 11 then (We're talking early 80s.)
Since my boys became school age, we've been reduced to usually July.
It seems that when the boys were young, in July, MK was open till 12, with MSEP at 9 and 11 and FITS at 10. EC was open till 10 or 11 and World Showcase opened at 9 at the same time as Future World. Future World also stayed open till park closed. Our regular touriing strategy was to open in World Showcase, (with breakfast from the pastry shop in France) while most people through the gate were in Future World, then come back to Future World in late afternoon as people drifted over to World Showcase. This was wonderful. And yes, many of the Future World attractions were nearly deserted at night, which made them all walk-ons and wonderful.

Gradually, as the boys grew older, the MK cut back to 11, then 10 in the summer. EC went to the 9 to 9, with the divided hours for FW and WS. Disney MGM was often open till 10. Don't know that AK has ever had hours later than about 7. Although they used to open as early as 7 a.m.
Then 9/11 happened and the hours have been cut and attractions have been closed or made 'seasonal' and the number of live shows have been reduced, etc.

But my theme park commandos love Early Entry, get the biggies out of the way. We especially love E-Ride Nights. I have ridden Splash Mountain a dozen times in a row during these wonderful events. Of course, you can't combine Early Entry and E-Ride nights too many times.

What months and seasons do you all want us to be open late?

The off times like September, February, early March, and late April to early May it really it illogical to have us open later than 10. And onces again everyone is forgetting the special events, and every park has their own after hours special events. We are gradually getting back to normal hours it will increase as regular attendance increases. Just have faith.

We are open late! lol! :) EPCOT is open till 9, mind you, EPCOT at 12 midnight isn't all that exciting so staying open till 10 isn't smart.

I wasn't complaining. Pixie Duster asked the question and I answered.

I'm sorry, but the term "late" is relative.

Late being 11 at MK isn't as late as midnight.

Epcot should be open till 10. Mission: SPACE and Test Track at least.

Studios I really don't care, but at least do more shows later in the day. Everything closes so early there. And Fantasmic should have two showings in season, and Sorcery should be brought back at least once a week.
AK needs to be open al least till 7 every night of the year. Espically with these 9am openings now.

Ok Bill you work till 2 am, ok? And everyone leaves at 10:30 when we are open till midnight, but hey what do I know I only work there 4 out of the five days I work a week and 3 of those are closing shifts.

Aren't park hours based on the previous years attendance levels ? If attendance levels don't change - why should park hours ? Its all about economics of supply and demand while taking into account revenue and expenditure.
Disney is in business to satisfy shareholders and staff wages are the biggest expense going - you don't staff an empty park.
Plus, if the parks close early and the guests haven't seen / done / ridden all they want - they return for more = supply and demand etc.
