I find it extremely curious that we're haing this conversation. The skyway is a low-rent, generic amusement park attraction with minimal theming flexibility.

Is anyone really yearning for a ride over the gum-covered roofs of Fantasyland? Do we have serial criminal expectorators on the board?

If I remember correctly it was a safety concern. Well, why not have a lap bar then? You can still move around alright. But in all honesty I don't see it happening. I voted yes, just because I can imagine looking over the Fantasyland expansion and it would be wonderful. If they do it in a way where it is themed properly and doesn't ruin the mystique then I say do it.

I agree. I got a chance to ride the skyway at WDW. seeing the roofs of all the buildings kinda brought you down to reality. Just a little bit of magic dwindled.

I was not sad when they took this out! LOL I am afraid of heights so I never liked it. A funny story was I thought I was going to be thrown out of the parks for foul language. My friends dragged me on it once. I was cursing and yelling at them the entire time (mainly because they kept rocking the car). Half way across it would go down and back up again. When it went down I was still cursing and telling my friends I was going to kill them. I told the guy at the bottom to let me off or I was going to kill someone. He smiled and pushed the car along back up the hill. I pretty much knocked everyone out of my way to get off. As soon as the car was at the platform I unlocked the door and jumped off. The ride operators were yelling at me to stay in the car - I didn't listen and jumped off and ran off the ride. In hindsight it was totally embarrassing! LOL

To be fair I never did get to go on the skyway, but to me looking up to see ugly wires and gondolas (not to mention people spitting and throwing things) is not something I would welcome...

Anyone remember when they removed the pylons? It must have been a pretty big job being as they are in the middle of the walkways and least 75ft. Must have been 5 of them? Someone(Martin?) have pictures of them being removed?

While I do like the idea of a another way to get around the park if you need a rest, I dont like the idea of seeing the rooftops and ruining some of the illusion... but I'll take an expansion of the TTA

Actually, yes....I would love to have that ride back. The view from that height made for some great photo-taking. Of course, I'm not the type of person who would take pictures of those gum-covered roofs, nor would I be particularly bothered by seeing them.

As far as "low-rent, generic amusement park attractions" go.....WDW is filled with them: Tea Cups, Tomorrowland Speedway, entire Dino-Rama area, so what's one more?

Let's see...Sky Ride 2012.

1. Frivolous lawsuits involving fear of heights, fear of containment, falling bodies, and lack of mid-air refreshments.
2. Spit showers.
3. Smartphones falling from the sky.
4. People who can not honor the rules by remaining seated.
5. Unwarranted and obscene air-to-ground communications.

Yeah, a Sky Ride would be a wonderful addition to the Park in our modern, socially advanced world.

All of that can equally apply to the TTA. Should they not have that, either?

I believe that TTA can be monitored, stopped, and corrected in an easier fashion. I have been on it when an individual jumped off, so I do know that things do happen, but I still believe that the dangers are fewer. Additionally, TTA is not a mid-air, free floating, single compartment ride. Also, items dropped on the TTA are not as likely to make it past the railing, as there is some room between the vehicle and the rim. The issue is not necessarily "any" danger, but rather the degree of danger. In life we must often weigh cost vs. benefit.
