I always loved the skyway when it was still in use at Magic Kingdom, and hated to see/hear of it being pulled out so long ago. My question is, now with this new Fantasyland project taking place, don't you think another skyway would go great (obviously not exactly how/where it was)? It certainly saved a lot of wear-n-tear on your feet from all the walking from one side of the park to the other, and also made for a great spot for picture-taking.

We can dream, can't we? (For this, along with any hope of a monorail expansion.)

I wouldn't mind another elevated something. Like, one of my favorite rides is the PeopleMover. It's relaxing, it's always cooler up there, you get a nice breeze, you can sit and people watch - in short, it's brilliant. So if there were some equivalent in another land (themed appropriately of course) I wouldn't be opposed. Just doesn't have to be sky buckets specifically in my opinion.

Peter Pan, a new Peter Pan ride updated. Flying out of the window and over Fantasyland, then back inside to complete the dark ride portion. Update the dark ride as well. Old and not worth the wait. I only ride it if the wait is short. I would def wait for an updated PP.

I always thought it would be cool to have something like this over a section of World Showcase Lagoon. I'm sure there's a million reasons this will never happen, but like you say we can dream.

No offense but when I look up at Disney I want to see the rich detailed theming not you people.

I also don't want to see behind the facades and ruin my make believe.

We need time for things to happen.
Yes definitely.
I know nostalgia is playing a part in my voting, but I also get the folks having an issue with it ruining the magic. Seeing the tops of ride buildings etc, isn't great but the relaxing floating over the top of Fantasy land part and people watching was awesome.

I'm sure if they did it today they could find a way to keep the real world hidden and do it 'right' so if it were to come back in this totally hypothetical situation...yes.

Unfortunately, in today's times, I think we would have more problems with guest situations than we may have had in the past. (Common sense and courtesy are slowly slipping from past decades.) There would be more unruly guests spitting and throwing stuff from the gondolas. I think there are some safety concerns with it too especially with today's lawyer friendly evac procedures, wheelchair accessibility, and stuff. Not to mention the show stuff. I also think it would have a lower guests carry target than other attractions.

I just think the time for an attraction like the skyway has passed.

Some of the issues you mentioned could be remedied by using a larger fully enclosed ride (though it better be ventilated or summer days would be pretty yucky).

I don't think the old version of the attraction would work for the reasons you noted as well as the possibilty of seeing backstage. As someone else mentioned - perhaps an attraction that starts indoor and had an outside portion would work. The ourdoor portion could utilize existing buildings and perhaps new foliage to mask any backstage areas.

I vote yes!

Hersheypark in Pa. still has a "skyway"! So does Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, Pa. These parks are"old", but they keep up w/ the new as well. Their skyways are the open ones w/ feet dangling.:) Hersheypark has theirs going over water.:)

I like the gondola type Sky rides personally. Most parks have phased them out.:(

Doubtful if Disney will bring it back.:dazzle:

My local fair still has a skyway. What I can tell you is an incident happened on the skyway in 2004 when a person fell while the skyway was running from suffering from a seizure. I saw the person falling matter of fact while I was at the local fair.

I went on a Skyway when I was a kid. The problem is there is a potential lawsuits from a safety standpoint with Sky Ways and I don't see Disney bringing them back.

I see what you mean but IMO it would just be like having the ride Sea World has that it takes you up and you can view over the park and then back down... *yawn*

I liked the skyway, but would prefer seeing a version with enclosed gondolas at AK. Possibly even something with an "Up" theme.

I sometimes miss the Skyway. It was relaxing, offered great views, there was even some thrill involved (that thing went up way high!). A bit like the Peoplemover.

But it also had its drawbacks: hopeless capacity - I think I always waited at least an hour for it. The view to a large extent concisted of the not-so-magical wharehouse rooftops of TL and FL, revealing you had been staring at fake façades all along. The view over 20k was equally de-mystifying.

When I look at old pictures now, I am struck at how out of place the Skyway feels. Buckets over the Bavarian village? Really?

I want Toad back. And the Swan boats. And If You Had Wings. But the skyway...mwah, it is not the end of the world.
I just get my skyway fix at Blizzard Beach!

bethymouse, thanks for the mention of Dutch Wonderland. granted we have a skyway ride, most goes over areas that guests are not walking in and one of 2 longest rides in our park. granted we are not nearly as big as MK but we also have Dolewhips.

I agree with you. Kinda sad because I loved Skyway.
