Should La Nouba be replaced?

La Nouba has been playing for eight years now. Attendence has been declining slowly. A Great show, but people are getting used to it. How much longer can they keep doing it until a different show is needed?

Having worked @ La Nouba here's my $.02

- The theatre is built SPECIFICALLY for that show, they'd have to gut the theatre and start over if they bring in a new show = $$$$$

- Cirque just renewed their contract with Disney until either 2010 or 2012 (I can't remember...I'm almost 100% it's 2010) so it's sticking around until then.

- If attendance is declining....why do they keep raising the ticket prices?

I LOVELOVELOVE La Nouba and have probably seen it 100+ times and it amazes me EVERY time

La Nouba is a great show. No doubt about that. Them replacing it? I don't know, I wouldn't really be able to come to terms with never seeing it again. Then it depends on what they would replace it with. The theater looks as if La Nouba can be easily moved out and a new CIRQUE show can come right in, with a little set redesigning. I can see them putting a new cirque show in there. Anything else? Not really, as the theater was built for Cirque Du Soleil.

Plus, Cirque nailed La nouba right on the head the first time, writing the show and all. La Nouba looks outdated a BIT effects-wise if you have seen any of Cirque's newer shows.

IMHO, I don't think they should replace it with a new cirque show (they shouldn't replace it at all), just because their new ones have not been as good as their older ones, but that's just me.

I have never seen La Nouba personally, nor do I care for that type of entertainment, but I think if Disney replaces the show in the future, the area should be used for special events or create another Disney Quest....NOT!:D

Saw La Nouba in November and thought the show was great. Worth every cent. If you've never seen it you should. It's not something you'll want to repeat over and over but it's a very delightful evening of entertainment.

Cirque is at Atlantic Station here in Atlanta and I am excited about seeing their Corteo performance there this coming Friday night.

It would be nice for Cirque to keep the venue, but be able to rotate the shows from other cities maybe annually.

Fact, or merely speculation on your part?

Saltimbanco ran for 14 years (and may get new life as an arena show). Mystere, Alegria, Quidam and O are all older than La Nouba. I don't think La Nouba is dramatically changing, nor going away any time soon.

Quite different than other CdS shows. Very intimate, and very emotional. The story is threaded quite well - like Quidam. The characters are very human. Little makeup.

I think you will really enjoy it.

Fact.

It has been significant enough that Cast Members were allowed to have 50 percent discount for an extended period in 2006. That has never happened in my memory. Also, booking for Cirque has become much more accessible as a result of attendence needing a boost. You can now book it directly by calling 407WDWCIRQUE. That only began a couple months ago. Cirque may not need a new show at this point, but attendence has definitely been on their minds.

I have always wanted to see this show but could never afford it. I noticed in December that they prices had went up again and it was packed that night. I keep hoping one day that someone will have a couple of tickets that they can't use and offer them to me and my wife. We are Disney fanatics and cannot visit like we used to because of the cost. But I would love to see the show I just cannot afford it.

I know....would I like some cheese with that whineeeeeee?

An extended discount period means squat and still doesn't mean 'fact' unless you can get your hands on attendence records from Cirque, and to do that, you'll need to know Jola :)

I'm not picking a fight, but unless you know 100% that attendence is down, don't post that it's a fact.

Never seen it as my last visit to Walt Disney World was in August 1993.

I have never seen Cirque live anywhere either, except on TV.

Hopefully Disney will keep La Nouba or any Cirque production at Disney.

well on the same basis why dont they get rid of buffalo bills in dlrp :lookaroun  - /sarcasm

because im by nature selfish - i would be rather infuriated to see it go - well they can get rid of it after ive seen it - but before then, id like it if they kept it :D

they will keep it running/milking it as its a good money spinner for cirque and disney ;)

I booked in 2004 by calling directly. I also called directly last October when I booked for this May. I absolutely LOVED the show and I can't wait to go back and see it again. I don't think I could ever get tired of it. There's so much going on at any given time, I think you could probably see something different each visit.

I hope they don't replace the show, we love it. We see it every time we are in WDW and also watch the DVD a couple of times a year in between our visits.

Here comes an unpopular opinion: I wish they'd replace La Nouba with a grand Disney show:king: Something as grand as Fantasmic, but indoors and obviously different. It is Disney World after all :)
