Should I stay or Should I go???

Okay so here's the deal.. We have been going back and forth over getting to go to WDW this year. We just moved into a new house which meant alot of expenses so we said we would wait and go in February 2010 so no trip this year. Being the absolute Disney nut that I am the thought of not going is absolutely killing me!

Sooo, we are thinking about going ahead and doing a shorter than normal trip with the free dining August 16th -24th or so. We usually do the last week of August into September and stay longer but we can't because of school. I am sure it will be more crowded the first week of free dining and February isn't really that far away but I want to go this year too!! Ugh... I don't know what to do and I know I need to hurry because I guess it is booking up pretty quickly plus I need to be making ADRs now if we are going. I don't want to go if it is insanely more crowded but I looked at the touringplans and it isn't that bad just mostly 6's where we are normally 5's. The sensible side of me says wait but the Disney lover in me says do it!!

My husband and I ran into this problem too. We just sold our house and are trying to save up as much as we can so we can build a new one. We thought about scratching our annual trip a couple times to save up but then we figured if we didn't do Disney we would go nuts. So instead of not doing our annual trip, this year we are doing two trips. Made a lot of sense huh? lol But actually it works out to close to the same money because when we went earlier in the year we got the 4 for 3 deal and when we go in September we will be getting the free dining. Well, not entirely close in money but I tell myself that so I think it is ok, and I believe it :ROFLOL:. So to get straight to the point....DO IT!!!

WOW tough one. I had totally anticipated skipping this year. We had gone last August and December. Then DH said we could go. We originally booked 1st week of August, then free dining came out and we switched to 1st week of September.

We plan to buy a new house this winter/spring so I can sympathize with your situation.

The free dining is another thing that is making me want to go ahead and go, it makes our trips so much cheaper. I want to go so bad I can't stand it I swear I have a really bad addiction going on here I think! I like your thinking.

I love the first week of September I wish we could go then and it would be a definate I think!

I know it sounds silly but I cannot bear the thought of not going at all this year even with all the activity with the new house I still want my Disney Fix. DD suggested watching our videos from last year to help us decide.... It is great to even be considering it after thinking there was no way but I don't want to get the kids excited for nothing if we don't go.

Oh & good luck to both of you on the house hunting/building.

Understand....husband and I are buying a place to! We close on the 11th of June. Anyway, I know the sensible side of me said we should have canceled or not booked. Because we too are thinking of going in Feb of 10' as well...But we said you know, after moving and the birth of our first this past Feb..and not being able to ride rides last year.

We had to go!

We did cancel. :) We are rescheduling for next year. With two college tuitions, outstanding school loans, etc., we just could not justify the cost and we didn't want to cut from 9 days to 5 days and we wouldn't go down to a value. So, instead we are going to Marco Island where all we have to do is rent a car and buy groceries (a lawyer I work with owns a condo--2-bedroom/2-bath and he is letting us use it for eight days!!!). We'll do Disney next year and start saving now so that we can stay savannah view at the AKL for a few days before going "home" to the CSR for the rest of our trip.

We moved in late June of last year to a larger house. Because of the move I canceled our September trip (just as you said - costs). It has been he**.

Our September trip is so long off from now. It's killing me. My kids beg to go to Disney every day. They may be a bit spoiled. I don't know who could have done that. :lookaroun

Now we have a few trips on the horizon and it feels so good. It makes sense financially for you to wait, but I so understand if you don't!

I totally understand your predicament, we were not planning on going back until 1/10 but the free dining made it doable. I made promises to cut down on the frivolous spending and we will not be taking many mini trips like we usually do this summer but it's worth it for Disney! Good luck on making your decision!

It seems so silly to everyone else but it is like you said it is torture. My kids are the same way, the want to go so bad. Like you said I should wait but... I really really don't want to! :dazzle:

That is what my thinking was, you save so much with the free dining and it isn't like we have to go all out with the spending if we go. We could cut the costs down alot just by not buying so much while we are there. I am going to try and decide by the end of the day. I won't make dining ADRs until we are booked I am funny about that so I really have to make up my mind!

Notice I never said you should wait....because I just can't. No one should wait to go to Disney. I understand if you wait. I mean, we got the house of our dreams. It's amazing. However, sometimes (don't tell anyone ;)), I think I'd rather be back in our smaller house and have gone to Disney more this past year.

If you can swing it with the Free Dining offer -- go for it. If you can't -- Disney isn't going anywhere. I can honestly say I've never actually looked forward to a trip more than I have for our September one.

Most of all, enjoy your new house and your new life!

You are right you didn't I guess it is the realistic, sensible me that is saying I should wait. I put off making the decision yesterday but I am thinking it is going to be a no (again) :( because I got my kitchen painted the color that I am just in love with and the countertops that were in the house when we bought it are not really going so well with the color, we knew we were going to replace them but I am thinking granite now sooo, it is either countertops now or WDW and wait on the counters... I really want to go but I really want those countertops!

Congrats on your house btw, we are the same way, got a really nice place that just needed updating and I am very happy to be this blessed to have it. It is just that little girl/Disney maniac that is missing my other "home" so much. ;)
Have fun in September too, I love going in September, the crowds are wonderful!
