This must be a an April Fool's Day joke otherwise never eat there again and carry a brush & mirror everywhere you go but do not, under any circumstances complain to ruin it for others. I guess everyone else in the room was impeccably dressed and coiffed and not looking like most people do - hot, sweaty, and exhausted with MESSY HAIR! What a nice thought to get that CM in trouble because you didn't like how your hair looked and couldn't relax.

i'm thinking we should've complained that we didn't get any antics at all. we were expecting it, especially the kids. they were bummed that the adults didn't get the shtick. my brother purposely didn't eat his veggies just so that he would get the riot act... nothing... I was waiting for them to get onto me about cleaning off my plate.. nothing...

Well we went to Prime Time this past summer. Thought would be so much fun. We sat down and I knew that the waitresses were quirky, knew the act....but what happened really was embarrasing to me and has left lasting impression. he waitress comes up to me and started taking me baseball cap off..telling me no hats at the table. Just caught me by surprise. Again I know the routine. BUT she I am sure could tell i was very uncomfortable with this mainly because without the hat i had extremely bad hair day ( guys you can relate right?) My hair just looked so bad and i was embarrased....I tried to joke and talk my way out of this but she kept insisting and i finally relented. Ended up the next hour...being so embarrased because i knew my hair looked terrible and was self concious. I KNEW she could pick up how upset I was and kept the act up. I vowed Id never go back. Should i have complained to Mgr.?

Not to be mean, but no you didn't.

That is how many problems and unfortunate situations start - not only at Prime Time, but in life in general. People assume other people know what they are thinking, when very often they don't.

If you had just said. "I'm sorry, but I would really rather not take off my hat, please stop - I'm not kidding" then the issue would have been solved.

Their job is to push you slightly out of your comfort zone, and it seems that is what she did indeed do.

Not to mention, hats don't belong at a dinner table anyway - 50's Prime Time or elsewhere.

First off, don't EVER feel embarrassed at Disney! I totally understand where you're coming from: my hair does not stand up to the Florida humidity and I have worn any combo of hats, scarves, etc. to just tie it all back and be on my way. You're paying a lot of money to have fun so don't ever let a bad hair day ruin it. (Besides, we've all seen some people at Disney that look as if they haven't checked the mirror before leaving their hotel...)

I have never been to Prime Time because I really dislike that type of banter. However, my sis and father went years back, both of them wearing hats. The waitress did her skit and told my dad to remove his hat. When she saw my sister she said, "Ladies may keep their hats on. It's part of their ensemble." Maybe your waitress was just clueless. Next time (if you choose to try it again), take control and just say, "But it's part of my outfit."

Not sure if that helps, but please, don't ever feel embarassed by some hat hair! Life is too short to let some clueless waitress spoil your fun!!!

No, you shouldn't have gone there in the first place if that type of thing would bother you.

I want to thank everyone for their input on this thread. I am not the OP but have learned much from this thread. We plan to go to WDW in Nov. 2013 and we are starting our list of places we wanted to eat. 50's Prime Time is on the list but now we are reconsidering it. We have a Special Needs Daughter who, after a long day in the parks, may not understand the humor from the CM's who are doing their jobs. :) While my Dear Hubby and I would greatly enjoy the humor and the whole shtick of the place. It has given my hubby and I food for thought before we make our ADR's in 2013 and for that I give you all a big THANK YOU! Also knowing that we can say we "don't want to play" or something like that to the CM is a big help too. We know we will have a way to defuse a situation if we do decide to go for it.

Don't sweat it. Unwritten rule: everyone knows about hat hair and rim sweat when a baseaball cap comes off.

Or I do with a brother and many male cousins.

I'm another one who has never went to Prime Time since I know how the atmosphere is supposed to be like there. I prefer no banter myself when I eat, though some people like the added dimension and that's fine. As many have said, it's always better to fully look into a restaurant at WDW before dining there, since looking into the theme is just as important as researching the menus or food quality.

I have been there 4 or so times with different types of people and we have NEVER had an issue with pushing too far. Every server we have ever had was really good at feeling out what the limit was. If you really have a concern then a simple no thanks we really just want to eat in peace, will eliminate all problems. But it is definitely worth a try.

If I could walk around WDW with my forehead fried off and most of my face puffy from a (newly discovered) PABA sunscreen allergy... A bad hair day ain't nuthin!

The choice is simple... Let something relatively trivial (certainly in the grand scheme of things) dampen your spirits and jeopardize probably the best time of the year - or let it ride, grin and keep on having a great time.

As for the 50PTC, we love the place and eat there every time we're in HS (which granted, isn't often, heh). The decor is just awesome, and the CMs - when in character - are part of that charm. Unfortunately, there is some variance there. Some are really good at it. Others... Would be better served working a more... Less-involved eatery.

Ok I think the OP has received an answer to their quetion and the subject has been discussed amply.
The thread has been up for awhile now so instead of continuing to berate the OP lets move on and allow the information shared to be taken in an not bring it to a point where feelings begin or continue to be hurt.

Thankyou! :)
