Should I buy tickets to the Christmas Party?

My wife, my 8 year old son, and I are going to WDW from December 6-12, and we purchased park hopper tickets for the 7-11. We weren't planning on doing the Christmas Party, but I don't want to regret missing it. We'll be likely spending at least 1 full and 1 half day in the Magic Kingdom. If we don't do the Christmas Party, will we really miss out on a lot of unique stuff, or, since we're going to be there for at least one non-party night, is it not worth the additional money (it would be well over $200 for us to do the party). Thanks!

The Xmas party has character meet and greets, special fireworks and a special holiday parade.

Check them out online and see if it is something that appeals to you.

I attended once, but since most of those things are available to me at Disneyland with my pass, I wasn't a fan.

I'll also be in WDW that week. I'll stay in the MK til 7 pm on party nights so I can see the castle lighting at 6:15. That is my favorite part.

We have done the Christmas party 3 of the last 4 years (the one we missed we did the Halloween party). They are fun, not as much since they now have bigger crowds (like all things wdw).

If this is a first time, or once in a lifetime, yeah, it's worth looking into attending. There are special characters out (usually the 7 dwarfs, scrooge mcduck, the princes with the princesses ), it snows on main street, and a few other things. The ride times are generally lower, but still not exactly walk on either since not every ride is open.

If you go with the proper expectations it can be a good time. If you go thinking you will find lower crowds and the ability to do your favorite rides with less crowds and more frequency you may be disappointed. The crowds for rides really aren't much better then normal park days, due to the large volume of tickets they sell. I will say that it does improve the later it gets, as many with young children punch out earlier. We enjoy it because we like the special parade, fireworks, and character interactions/ picture opportunities. We enjoy the cookies, the music, snow on Main Street, and getting pictures with characters in costumes of the season. We get plenty of time to do the other attractions on normal days, so we really try to just soak up the things that are unique to the parties.

I have to say I really regretted it. Im not sure what I was expecting but the only difference I saw was we were there at night. We had already been there all day. I hated we had spent that money.
