I'd book now. You can always call back and rebook when a promotion comes out. This way you can get your resort of choice and always change things if something better comes along. Plus gives you something to look forward to now.

You can book now and if promos come out later you can call Disney and they will help you out. I did it recently. It makes me happy when I know I'm booked...it helps ease my pain of being back home

Only possible reason I could think of to wait and book would be to leave your dates somewhat flexible so as to find cheaper airfare. Otherwise, as has been posted, I'd get booked and watch for the deals as they come. Also remember, with ADRs getting harder to obtain, being booked 180 days out is an advantage.

We just booked for next Aug. 8 - Aug. 28 at Pop. Like others have said, this way we know we have a preferred room at Pop - we can always modify our ressies if any discounts or offers come up. Definitely, book now.

I agree. We always book at rack rates and then wait for the discounts. That way we would have a room regardless.
This attitude is VERY important to have in this situation. reptar has the right idea.

If you are definitely going to stay at a WDW resort at that exact time no matter what, then go ahead and book it. As reptar says, it guarantees you a room.

But it's vital for people to understand that having a pre-existing reservation does NOTHING to help you snag a promo offer such as free Disney Dining Plan or this past winter/spring's Buy 4 Get 3 Free offer.

WHen a good deal is announced, someone without a reservation has just as much chance of booking that deal as someone with a reservation. It's complicated ... I'd be happy to explain if asked, but I'm feeling lazy right now.

In other words, if you will ONLY go to Disney if a good deal is offered, then making a reservation now is totally worthless. TOTALLY.
