Trip Report Shortest Trip Report Ever and the Time I Finally Swam in Stormalong Bay (COMPLETED)

Hey WDWMagicers!

This is seriously going to be so short. I debated even doing one, but there's some pretty big news I wanted to get out there to those of you who read my reports. How about I just lead with that?

On my social media I said we were adding a new Woody to the toy box (that's our last name), but @TrolleyFollower91 had the cutest idea since I go by sheriff here: We're adding a deputy! :joyfull:

So anyway, that has nothing to do with the trip other than the fact that I went to Toy Story Land just to take that picture.

The reason for this trip was to volunteer at Give Kids the World again! You can read about my last volunteer trip here. This one was solo and I only planned to volunteer one day since it was just over the weekend.

Who: Just me!
Where: All Star Music for 2 nights, Beach Club for 1 night
When: July 20-23
Why: Give Kids the World and to get my Disney fix

I decided to try out Frontier Airlines because it's cheap and goes straight from Memphis to MCO. They fly Friday and Monday, so it was perfect for a long weekend...or it would have been if Frontier didn't suck so hard.

Friday was going along just fine. I spent my lunch break packing my things (I wait until the last minute despite always planning to start early), and I was working along that afternoon when I got a text from Frontier than my flight was delayed. Ok, it's fine, that happens. At least it was early enough I could spend the extra time at home. It ended up getting delayed again after I was at the airport.

At the airport pretending I'm not annoyed by the delay.

The plane was actually still in Orlando when I got to Memphis, so I waited in the airport for a WHILE. I think we finally boarded around 10pm, but didn't actually leave the ground until 11pm.

This was what we were all greeted with on this airplane.

The whole thing looked like this. It was filthy! I understand a little mess from having to change over quickly, but this is beyond anything I've ever seen. I was not thrilled when my pea sized bladder (this is a new development...thanks, baby) decided it needed me to go. There's no telling if that bathroom has ever been cleaned.

We finally landed a little after 1am.

This is what the fonorail looks like on this side. Weird!!

I had rented a car through National, and I was able to just walk out there and pick one out. Emerald Club meant that I could pick anything on that aisle even though I just booked a mid-size. I ended up getting a Toyota Rav4 because I've been looking at one to buy in the next few years. It's between that and a CRV! Unfortunately it took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out how to start it with the keyless start :hilarious:

I finally got the car started and headed out.

I had to pull over at one point because I couldn't figure out if my lights were on...and I also couldn't figure out how to turn the radio on! This was way too fancy for me . After a while I knew something was going on because my GPS was taking me a super wonky way. I investigated and saw that it was set to avoid tolls (from when we were in Naples). UGHHHH this is not the time of day you want to be wasting time! Construction on Osceola set me back a bit too. They had my exit completely closed, so I had to take a pretty long detour.

at 3am...yes you read that right...THREE AM, TWO HOURS AFTER MY PLANE LANDED...I finally got to All Star Music.

Thankfully this room was a lot fresher than the room we had a Movies. Everything seemed fine and it felt great to lay down and close my eyes.

Up next: Volunteer day!
P.S. Sorry this is so much text.

I loved your TR but I feel bad that you went through so much hassle. You’re a stronger woman than I am—I never would have drove back to PA! You go girl!! I’m hoping to see another TR from you before your bundle of joy arrives!!

I so enjoyed your short, but sweet trip report! Loved the Woody reveal, and the whole Toy Story vibe - I think I can sense a nursery theme developing! :) I also thought no it’s so cool that you got to enjoy a WDWMagic meet up too! Not only were they great company, but they still had a shower!!!! The perks of these boards ... :D
Sorry to hear about all of your travel troubles, but I am with you - an Indian lunch with a friend is definitely a silver lining! Plus you showed your true Sheriff Woody skills by thinking straight and getting yourself out that jam!

Yeah PA may be a bit too far! I might have just had to suck it up and wait for a flight in that case. 12 hours is about my max...any longer and I probably would have stopped to sleep. I will have one more! We go in October for one last hurrah just the two of us :)

I thought about doing a Toy Story nursery! It would be so cute, but I'm probably just going to keep it simple. I'm sure it will have some Disney touches though. Thanks for reading along

Etsy is great for that! I wanted a Disney Princess nursery for Ryleigh but didn’t want it to be in your face with characters everywhere. I did it in a pink, silver, and white color scheme and I found watercolor silhouette prints of the princesses and castles and a few other things. (And the pink wall has glitter mixed in with the paint 👍🏻)

I have those kind of moments to look forward to  I'm hoping my kid isn't scared of stuff...I never was, so maybe he or she will take after me.

HAHA...I find myself having these exact same thoughts on a daily basis. It's terrifying!

Super Stretchy Burger Inspired by Mrs. Incredible
Flame-broiled 1/3 lb Angus Burger topped with Bacon, Cheese Sticks, American Cheese and Garlic Ranch on a Brioche Bun served with
French Fries.

O.M.G **drooooooooooools**. Me wants one right now!

Still a little bummed I won't get to ride Slinky for a while.

Ditto. We will just have to plan a trip after our babies are born and make your R and my R hang out with the kiddos while we go ride. It's the only logical solution I can think of!

S'more French Toast Sandwich
Marshmallow and Chocolate Ganache stuffed in Grilled Custard soaked Brioche encrusted with Graham Cracker Crumbs

This was DELICIOUS!

Oh my...this looks SO good. We are spending a morning in TSL, just to check it out since I can't ride anything and I hoped something at Andy's Lunchbox would spark my interest for breakfast or a snack. I think something just did so thank you!

Your journey home sounds awful. I am so sorry that you had such a terrible experience and it only makes it worse that you were on a solo trip too. Glad you got home safe and sound at the end of it all. At least it was only 12 hours and not the 23 hours for me **shrug**, not sure where the silver lining really is in this situation.

Thank you!! And yeah we're hoping he or she catches the Disney bug. We'll work extra hard to make that happen! :joyfull:

Thank you so much! ? We had a great time hanging out. And I absolutely love that whole area. My husband isn't as big of a fan unfortunately, but he does like being so close to Epcot.

Yeah it's just such a gamble. I heard from a few people afterwards who have had good experiences with them, but I had far more people relate similar (not quite as bad thankfully) experiences. Allegiant and Spirit seem to have similar reputations. Also, I will say that if I'd been flying to Nashville, I probably could have found a replacement flight more easily. Memphis is a smaller airport so the pickins were slim!

Thanks so much!

Haha thanks! My accent is so much less pronounced than a lot of people around here, but I can definitely hear it when I hear myself on video :hilarious:
Allegiant has one of the worst of not the worst safety records. They have a poor maintenance program. Avoid at all costs. It has gotten to the point I dont fly any discount airlines anymore and almost always fly first or business class for any trips over an hour.

Thanks for your flight info. I also fly out of Memphis and you have helped with your Frontier experience. I am glad that I found a good flight on Southwest for my Dec trip. Nothing better than flying into MCO after a great flight.

Glad you found a Southwest flight! I wish they'd add more non-stops since right now there's usually just one a day. But they've had good prices for the 1-stop flights lately too, so I guess that's the next best thing :)

Absolutely love the Woody photo with "Junior"! Disney trashcans are a photographer's best friend. :D

Wishing you and R all the best. So many great memories to come as a family; especially at WDW!
Haha thank you so much! And yes, the trash can was the perfect option :joyfull: And non-Disney parks people don't even know it's a trashcan, so...it's fine.

So happy for you! I can't wait to hear all about lil' Woody's adventures in the years to come!
Thanks so much!

great pictures we just got back from a 9 day stay at the beachclub!
Thank you! Hope you had fun  It's a beautiful resort!

Aww so cute! I am hoping to find some prints at WDW when we're down in Oct. That'll probably be all the Disney I do in mine. I have my crib from when I was a baby and am repurposing a China cabinet for storage, and both are dark wood. So I'm going to use lots of plants and greenery for color to give it a boho vibe. I like the idea of not having to change anything but the bed through the toddler stage. Now I'm on the hunt for the perfect mid-century modern dresser that I can use as a changing table...I like to make things hard on myself :cautious:

HAHA...I find myself having these exact same thoughts on a daily basis. It's terrifying!

You can ride Aliens! That's what I'm going to make our FP for. And R doesn't want to ride Slinky without me, but he's going to have to cause this kid won't be able to ride it for a WHILE. I might bring my mom one year just so me and R can ride stuff together :hilarious:
Well also, I love her...

Yeah I would NOT have driven 23 hours. No way, no how. I would have just gone back to WDW in that case!

Allegiant has one of the worst of not the worst safety records. They have a poor maintenance program. Avoid at all costs. It has gotten to the point I dont fly any discount airlines anymore and almost always fly first or business class for any trips over an hour.
I've heard that! A friend of mine was on an Allegiant flight where a window fell out while they were on the runway... Yet she continues to fly Allegiant. She's a potter though, so she's got the starving artist thing to worry about :hilarious:

Congrats again! :inlove: So stinkin' excited for you guys!

Your dino Chip & Dale picture is ADORABLE! :joyfull:

I'm so sad that I didn't get to end up joining you at MK or Beach Club. I'm very scatterbrained at this time of year (back to school brain is a thing) so the dates just slipped my mind with family taking over my house and NEEDING to get to the dentist before starting back to work. Seeing you in October will be a priority. ;)

I am glad you were able to solve your travel issues and made it home on a reasonable amount of time

I am sad to hear that you were not happy with the rav4
We make that vehicle at my plant here in Canada and I apologize for the radio being confusing
I drive one myself and enjoy the ride height and fuel economy

Congrats again on the upcoming arrival ( from me , my DW and DD) - they both loved the way you announced it!!
