Shadow laid off at Hilton Head Resort

3 years later, has anything changed? If Disney were smart, they’d expand the Duffy roster to Hilton Head (maybe the new character could be an octopus?) like they did Aulani to make up for cutting Shadow Shadow from the place. Shame, the various live entertainers add a lot to Disney but are the most poorly-recorded aspect of the company, the company themselves only seem to care for the Dapper Dans, Firehouse 5+2, and maybe a handful of others whereas the likes of HALYX, Off-Kilter, Shadow Shadow, and so on fade away leaving only the memories of the fans (though yes HALYX did split off from Disney and reclaim the rights to their characters apparently), with official acknowledgement being rare. Indeed, live entertainment aside from pre-existing characters has become rarer and rarer, possibly for pragmatic reasons as Disney collects more and more characters that are suitable for a “biome” once inhabited by sundry nameless live performers; Adventureland has gained the likes of Baloo and Rafiki, Frontierland has Woody, and gosh knows HOW many characters fit the space biome of Tomorrowland (which also includes cyberspace at this point, fingers crossed for Sora), even excluding the ones that get a mono-IP land too. Long ago, Fantasyland was considered the only biome for extant Disney characters, stocking everyone from Goofy to Cinderella; 20,000 Leagues was an exception and even it was on the borderline between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland due to being live action. Ah, negativity becoming introspection…

Duffy is in Hawaii because he’s huge in Japan

They definitely should get the doggie back at HHI though

I could write a book on this. In fact, I've been trying for years. Disney has severely neglected live entertainment for the past 20 years - where they used to lead, they now follow a non-existent leader. Universal has 1 good stage show, which they're cloning from Beijing - but they have never understood live entertainment in the traditional form as a major force to get people to come to their parks, unlike Disney of old. No other company comes close, even today.
