I wouldn't give up hope if I were you. With the official opening in the middle of November, I'd say you're about 75 - 80% ASSURED of getting in fairly easily for a soft opening during your trip. :)
I just got back a couple of hours ago from a six night trip, and SGE is definately in testing. I saw it twice. :)

It was open on Saturday and Sunday from about 10-4 (or so said a cast member I talked with during MNSSHP on Sunday night). On Monday I tried my luck, getting over there about 9:45, walking around, doing TTA a few times. There are normally 1-2 cast members standing outside it, but by about 10:30 there were like eight or nine of them. I went to Cosmic Rays to get a soda, came back and saw a few more groups of people doing the lookey-loo at the entrance, including a lovely couple from Wisconsin who who I chatted with for quite some time and eventually sat with.

They let us start getting in line about 10:45 (will have to check my notes) but there was some problem inside. I was in the first holding pen past the turnsitiles when the announcement was made that we were welcome to wait, but it would be awhile. I wasn't about to leave, but many people did. About 15 minutes later, the word came down that they were ready, and we were let in.

I don't know if they did it because we were the first group or not, but there were several CMs and a dressed-down-suit or two that stood in the theater the entire time (Imagineers?), following us from both the pre-show elements to the actual theater. They were all in a really good mood - and not even just your typical magical Disney mood. It seemed everyone was very excited, but even though the kids were psyched to see Stitch, the adults that were there had a special glee knowing that we were getting to see it early.

I'll post more details in my trip report, but extended previews are definately happening. I heard from someone that they didn't on Tuesday, but I don't know if they just didn't see it or if it really wasn't open all day.

It was neat, I'm sure kids will like it, but it sort of felt like the Tiki Room to me - something I'd do with someone who'd never seen it before, but not something I'd do every visit, maybe every other one. Just not quite enough for me - I get more wet at Philharmagic, and the positional audio is much better at Sounds Dangerous. The Stitch animatronic is really nice - the movement of the legs really impressed me - and I wish he was in more of the show. The whole audience really enjoyed it - the adults as well as the kids. Lots of yells and screams (good ones) and everyone left Buzzed...so to speak.

I haven't really heard anything about an actual script to it other than the chili dog thing. What is the story behind it and who talks throughout it, etc.?

**SPOILERS**

You are recurited by a intergalatic group that captures aliens (sorry, I've never seen the film so I don't know the lingo) in the first pre-show (video monitors in the first room beyond the front gate). In the second room you see an animatronic of the leader who tells you about level 1 and 2 aliens. You briefly see an alien captured and transported in a tube (another animatronic). It's here you find out they have captured Stitch, who is a level 3, and you are led into the show room.

You then sit in the chairs from before (overhead "restraints") and smoke fills the tube in the center of the room as they transport Stitch into it. He moves around the tube (his leg movement was awesome), and then uses his spit (?) to short out the system and the tube lifts. He is in the center without the tube for a few moments, then the rest of the show is in the dark as sounds of Stitch running around making mayhem around you.

Air blows on the back of your neck, the chilli dog smell (very strong), water from the dual "laser" guns (I wish there was more water though!), and a sort of lame "shaking" from the overhead restraints. That was the only thing I didn't get really - all it does is shake a bit and didn't even startle me. Stitch "escapes" and you see him for a second in a video riding the Astro Oribiter, and then that's it - the leader says "I guess we'll release the recurits" or something to that effect - it was very abrupt. I guess it makes more sense if you've seen the film, as this is a prequel to it I was told.
